セラミック原料として、炭化珪素粉75質量%及び金属珪素粉25質量%及びこのセラミック原料100質量部に対して、平均粒径45μmの架橋処理澱粉を10質量部加え、さらにメチルセルロース、ヒドロキシプロポキシルメチルセルロース、界面活性剤、及び水を添加して混合し、真空土練機により可塑性の坏土を作製した。
架橋処理澱粉の添加量を15質量部とした以外は実施例1と同様の原料を用い、同様の方法でハニカム構造の多孔質ハニカムフィルターを作製した。
セラミック原料として炭化珪素粉70質量%及び金属珪素粉30質量%とし、隔壁の厚さが381μm、セル密度が31.0セル/cm2(200セル/平方インチ)とした以外は実施例1と同様の原料を用い同様の方法で多孔質ハニカムフィルターを作製した。
実施例2の原料にさらに樹脂系造孔材を5質量部添加した以外は実施例2と同様の原料を用い同様の方法で多孔質ハニカムフィルターを作製した。

- 非酸化物系セラミックスの原料に、平均粒径が5〜50μmであり、粒径100μm以上の粒子が10質量%以下の造孔材を添加してなるフィルター原料から製造され、細孔分布を制御した多孔質ハニカムフィルターであって、細孔径15μm以下の、細孔特性測定で得られる細孔容積(cc/g)を材料の密度(g/cc)を乗じて得た単位体積当たりの細孔容積(絶対値)が0.07cc/cc以下、細孔径40μm以上の、細孔特性測定で得られる細孔容積(cc/g)を材料の密度(g/cc)を乗じて得た単位体積当たりの細孔容積(絶対値)が0.07cc/cc以下である多孔質ハニカムフィルター。
- 気孔率が40〜75%である請求項1記載の多孔質ハニカムフィルター。
- 触媒が担持されている請求項1〜3のいずれか1項記載の多孔質ハニカムフィルター。
