CH3OH + H2O → CO2 + 6H+ + 6e−
陰極での反応:
O2 + 4H+ + 4e− → 2H2O
全体の燃料電池反応:
CH3OH + 1.5O2 → CO2 + 2H2O
H2→2H++2e−(陽極で)
2(2H++2e−)+O2→2H2O(陰極で)
適切な触媒は白金およびルテニウム、その他である。水素化ホウ素ナトリウムを改質して生成された水素燃料は燃料電池中で、酸化剤例えばO2と反応させられ、電気(すなわち電子の流れ)および水の副産物を生成する。ホウ酸ナトリウム(NaBO2)の副産物も改質プロセスで生成される。水素化ホウ素ナトリウム燃料電池は特許文献3に検討されており、参照してここに組み入れる。

Claims (34)
- 燃料電池により使用される燃料を含有する燃料供給装置において、
燃料を含有する燃料用区画、反応物質用区画、および反応室部を包囲する外側ケーシングを有し、
上記燃料は反応室部に搬送されて水素ガスおよび液体反応物質を含む反応物質を生成するように反応し、この後上記反応物質が反応物質用区画に搬送され、かつ、
上記反応物質用区画が上記液体反応物質を保持し、かつ上記水素ガスは上記反応物質用区画から上記燃料電池に搬送されることを特徴とする燃料供給装置。 - 上記反応物質用区画は、ガス透過性で液体非透過性の隔膜を有し、水素ガスが上記隔膜を介して上記燃料電池に供給される請求項1記載の燃料供給装置。
- 上記燃料供給装置はバルブを有し、このバルブが水素ガスを選択的に上記燃料電池へと通過させる請求項1記載の燃料供給装置。
- 上記燃料供給装置は燃料を上記燃料用区画から上記反応室部へとポンピングするポンプを有する請求項1記載の燃料供給装置。
- 上記外側ケーシングは実質的に水素ガスに対して非透過性である請求項1記載の燃料供給装置。
- 水素ガスは上記外側ケーシング内に貯蔵される請求項5記載の燃料供給装置。
- 上記燃料用区画の壁部および上記反応物質用区画の壁部は一体に形成される請求項1記載の燃料供給装置。
- 上記燃料用区画および上記反応物質用区画は可動壁部により分離される請求項7記載の燃料供給装置。
- 上記可動壁部は、上記反応物質用区画および上記燃料用区画の間のシールを形成する請求項8記載の燃料供給装置。
- 上記シールは、上記反応物質用区画および上記燃料用区画の壁部に対して圧力を加えるワイパーまたはOリングを有する請求項9記載の燃料供給装置。
- 上記燃料は水素化ホウ素ナトリウムを含む請求項1記載の燃料供給装置。
- 上記液体反応物質はホウ酸ナトリウムを含む請求項11記載の燃料供給装置。
- 上記反応室部はプラチナまたはルテニウムを含む請求項11記載の燃料供給装置。
- 上記燃料はメタノールである請求項1記載の燃料供給装置。
- 上記反応室部は触媒を含む請求項1記載の燃料供給装置。
- 上記燃料用区画は、圧縮および膨張が可能な容器を含み、上記燃料は当該容器中に含まれる請求項1記載の燃料供給装置。
- 上記反応物質用区画は、圧縮および膨張が可能な容器を含み、上記反応物質は当該容器中に含まれる請求項1記載の燃料供給装置。
- 燃料電池により使用される燃料を含有する燃料供給装置において、
燃料を含有する燃料用区画、反応物質用区画、および反応室部を包囲する外側ケーシングを有し、
上記燃料は反応室部に搬送されて水素ガスおよび液体反応物質を含む反応物質を生成するように反応し、この後上記水素ガスが上記燃料電池に搬送され、上記液体反応物質が上記反応物質用区画に搬送され、かつ、
上記液体反応物質がさらに付加的な反応物質と反応してガスを生成して、上記反応物質用区画内の圧力を増大させて燃料を上記燃料用区画から押し出すことを特徴とする燃料供給装置。 - 上記付加的な反応物質は金属である請求項18記載の燃料供給装置。
- 上記付加的な反応物質は触媒である請求項18記載の燃料供給装置。
- 上記燃料供給装置はバルブを有し、このバルブが水素ガスを選択的に上記燃料電池へと通過させる請求項18記載の燃料供給装置。
- 上記燃料供給装置は燃料を上記燃料用区画から上記反応室部へとポンピングするポンプを有する請求項18記載の燃料供給装置。
- 上記燃料用区画の壁部および上記反応物質用区画の壁部は一体に形成される請求項18記載の燃料供給装置。
- 上記燃料用区画および上記反応物質用区画は可動壁部により分離される請求項23記載の燃料供給装置。
- 上記可動壁部は、上記反応物質用区画および上記燃料用区画の間のシールを形成する請求項24記載の燃料供給装置。
- 上記シールは、上記反応物質用区画および上記燃料用区画の壁部に対して圧力を加えるワイパーまたはOリングを有する請求項25記載の燃料供給装置。
- 上記燃料は水素化ホウ素ナトリウムを含む請求項18記載の燃料供給装置。
- 上記液体反応物質はホウ酸ナトリウムを含む請求項27記載の燃料供給装置。
- 上記反応室部は白金またはルテニウムを含む請求項27記載の燃料供給装置。
- 上記燃料はメタノールである請求項18記載の燃料供給装置。
- 上記反応室部は触媒を含む請求項18記載の燃料供給装置。

- 上記反応物質用区画は第2の圧縮および膨張が可能な容器を有し、上記2つの圧縮および膨張が可能な容器は可動壁部により分離される請求項32記載の燃料供給装置。
