Description
しかしながら、かかる成形時において、EVOHを用いて溶融成形を行い、一旦、成形機(溶融押出装置)の運転を長時間(特に4時間以上)停止した後再起動する場合において、成形機の樹脂流路内に存在するEVOHのゲルや分解物等を除去するために、長時間にわたって排出作業(パージ)を行う必要があり、パージが不完全な場合は成形物(製品)中にスジが発生したり、ゲルやブツの混入が発生したりして、良好な製品を得るのに膨大な時間と製品ロスをもたらす結果となる。
一方、パージが終了した後は、成形機(ダイス)のヒーターを切り、温度を室温付近まで下げ、再立ち上げ時に加工温度まで昇温することが行われているが、最近の成形機の大型化傾向や、特にガソリンタンク等の大型の容器を成形する加工機では、再昇温に時間がかかり、生産性が低下するという問題点も見られるようになってきた。
なお、本発明においては、さらにEVOH組成物がホウ素化合物をホウ素換算で0.001〜0.5重量% 含有してなること、EVOHの溶融粘度比が0.5〜10であること等が好ましい実施態様である。ここで、かかる溶融粘度比とは、EVOHを190℃の無酸素下で4時間放置した時の溶融粘度(V4)と24時間放置した時の溶融粘度(V24)の比(V24/V4)を意味するものである。
本発明に用いられるEVOHとしては特に限定されないが、エチレン含有量が10〜70モル%(さらには20〜60モル%、特には25〜50モル%)、酢酸ビニル成分のケン化度が90モル%以上(さらには95モル%以上、特には99モル%以上)のものが好ましく用いられ、該エチレン含有量が10モル%未満では成形物の高湿時のバリア性、溶融成形性が低下し、逆に70モル%を越えると成形物にバリア性を付与することが困難となり、さらに酢酸ビニル成分のケン化度が90モル%未満でも成形物のバリア性、熱安定性、耐湿性等が低下して好ましくない。
そして、このときに成形機の設定温度が、溶融成形時の加工温度より0〜100℃(さらには0〜80℃、特には0〜50℃)低い温度で4時間以上(さらには4〜100時間、特には8〜80時間)放置しておくものである。このときにかかるEVOHの温度が加工温度よりも高いと滞留するEVOHに焼けや分解ガスが発生し樹脂が着色することにより、パージに多大な時間を必要となり、逆に加工温度よりも100℃を超えるほど低い温度で放置した場合も、再加温時に焼けや分解ガスの発生や樹脂粘度の上昇により、再立ち上げ時のパージに多大な時間を要し、また、再立ち上げ時の成形物にスジが発生しやすく、本発明の目的を達成することが困難となる。
なお、本発明においては、EVOH以外の他の樹脂についての放置温度は特に制限されるものではない。
すなわち、放置している間のEVOHのダイス外への流出量をダイス内のEVOH容量に対して2〜30%(さらには5〜25%、特には10〜20%)とするのである。流出量が30%以上となった場合はダイス内でヤケが生じるためか再立ち上げ時にスジの発生が多くなってパージに多大な時間が必要となり、逆に2%以下でもダイスのリップ部にヤケが生じるためかパージに多大な時間が必要となり好ましくない。
本発明の成形加工方法をダイレクトブロー成形に適用するにあたっては、特に限定するものではないが、EVOH層、基材樹脂層、接着樹脂層、回収樹脂層の少なくとも4つの押出機が設けられた丸ダイスでEVOHを中間層とする多層のパイプ状樹脂(パリソン)を押出し、得られたパリソンを一対のボトル形状のあわせ金型で挟み、パリソンの上下を閉じて、パリソン内に吹き込み口から空気を吹き込んで膨らまして金型に押しつけると同時に冷却して固化させ、多層のボトルを成形する方法が採用される。
EVOH[エチレン含有量32モル%、ケン化度99.5モル%、MFR12g/10分(210℃、荷重2160g)、ホウ素化合物をホウ素換算で380ppm含有、酢酸マグネシウムをマグネシウム換算で180ppm含有、溶融粘度比6]、HDPE[高密度ポリエチレン、日本ポリケム社製『ノバテックHD HB431』]及び接着性樹脂[無水マレイン酸変性高密度ポリエチレン、三菱化学社製『モディックAP H501』]を用いて、4種6層のブロー成形機に供して、外側からHDPE層/回収層/接着性樹脂層/EVOH層/接着性樹脂層/HDPE層の層構成を有する4種6層のボトル(胴部の厚みが70μm/210μm/20μm/100μm/20μm/290μmで、容量500cc)を8時間成形した。
なお、この17分間のパージに使用した全樹脂量は、3300gであった。

実施例1において、放置温度を150℃とし、樹脂の流出量を4%とした以外は同様に行って、再立ち上げを行ったところ、樹脂を流し始めてから2分後にはボトル形状の成形が可能となり、さらに11分後には筋が消えて外観性が良好なボトルを得ることができた。
なお、この13分間のパージに使用した全樹脂量は、3000gであった。
また、得られたボトルについての評価も同様に行った。
実施例1において、エチレン含有量32モル%、ケン化度99.5モル%、MFR12g/10分(210℃、荷重2160g)、ホウ素化合物をホウ素換算で380ppm含有、酢酸マグネシウムをマグネシウム換算で250ppm含有、溶融粘度比4のEVOHを用いて、樹脂の流出量を35%とした以外は同様に行って、再立ち上げを行ったところ、樹脂を流し始めてから4分後にはボトル形状の成形が可能となり、さらに21分後には筋が消えて外観性が良好なボトルを得ることができた。
なお、この25分間のパージに使用した全樹脂量は、5500gであった。
また、得られたボトルについての評価も同様に行った。
実施例3において、停止後にダイスのリップ部に板を当てて、樹脂の流出を抑制した。この時の樹脂の流出量は12%であった。同様に再立ち上げを行ったところ、樹脂を流し始めてから2分後にはボトル形状の成形が可能となり、さらに15分後には筋が消えて外観性が良好なボトルを得ることができた。
なお、この17分間のパージに使用した全樹脂量は、3700gであった。
また、得られたボトルについての評価も同様に行った。
実施例1において、加工温度を230℃とし、加工温度のままで放置し、流出量を15%とした以外は同様に行って、再立ち上げを行ったところ、樹脂を流し始めてから3分後にはボトル形状の成形が可能となり、さらに15分後には筋が消えて外観性が良好なボトルを得ることができた。
なお、この18分間のパージに使用した全樹脂量は、4000gであった。
また、得られたボトルについての評価も同様に行った。
実施例1において、放置時間を5時間とし、流出量を7%とした以外は同様に行って、再立ち上げを行ったところ、樹脂を流し始めてから2分後にはボトル形状の成形が可能となり、さらに10分後には筋が消えて外観性が良好なボトルを得ることができた。
なお、この12分間のパージに使用した全樹脂量は、2600gであった。
また、得られたボトルについての評価も同様に行った。
実施例1において、エチレン含有量32モル%、ケン化度99.5モル%、MFR12g/10分(210℃、荷重2160g)、酢酸マグネシウムをマグネシウム換算で180ppm含有、溶融粘度比2のEVOHを使用し、流出量を35%とした以外は同様に行って、再立ち上げを行ったところ、樹脂を流し始めてから5分後にはボトル形状の成形が可能となり、さらに20分後には筋が消えて外観性が良好なボトルを得ることができた。
なお、この25分間のパージに使用した全樹脂量は、5500gであった。
また、得られたボトルについての評価も同様に行った。
実施例1において、停止前にEVOH層の押出機を市販のポリエチレン(日本ポリケム社製『ノバテックLD LF542H』)でパージした後、加工機の温度を室温まで低下させ、EVOH層の押出機にはEVOHを入れ、再立ち上げを行ったところ、全層の樹脂を流し始めてからはボトル形状の成形が可能となるまでに20分を要し、さらに筋が消えて外観性が良好なボトルが得られるまでに50分かかった。
なお、この間のパージに使用した全樹脂量は、16000gであった。
また、得られたボトルについての評価も同様に行った。
実施例1において、成形停止後の放置時のダイス温度を230℃とした以外は同様に行って、再立ち上げを行ったところ、樹脂を流し始めてからはボトル形状の成形が可能となるまでに7分を要し、さらに筋が消えて外観性が良好なボトルが得られるまでに35分かかった。
なお、この42分間のパージに使用した全樹脂量は、9500gであった。
また、得られたボトルについての評価も同様に行った。
実施例1において、成形停止後の放置時のダイス温度を80℃とした以外は同様に行って、再立ち上げを行ったところ、樹脂を流し始めてからはボトル形状の成形が可能となるまでに10分を要し、さらに筋が消えて外観性が良好なボトルが得られるまでに30分かかった。
なお、この間のパージに使用した全樹脂量は、9000gであった。
また、得られたボトルについての評価も同様に行った。
Claims (5)
- エチレン−酢酸ビニル共重合体ケン化物及び他の樹脂をダイスを有する溶融成形機に供給して多層構造体の成形加工するにあたり、一定時間溶融成形加工を行った後に再度溶融成形加工を開始するまでの間、溶融成形機内に滞留しているエチレン−酢酸ビニル共重合体ケン化物を溶融成形時の加工温度より0〜100℃低い温度で放置し、その間にダイスリップ部から流出するエチレン−酢酸ビニル共重合体ケン化物及び他の樹脂の容積がダイスの容積の2〜30容量%とすることを特徴とする成形加工方法。
- エチレン-酢酸ビニル共重合体ケン化物がホウ素化合物をホウ素換算で10〜5000ppm含有してなることを特徴とする請求項1記載の成形加工方法。
- エチレン-酢酸ビニル共重合体ケン化物の溶融粘度比(190℃で4時間放置後の粘度/190℃で24時間放置後の粘度)が0.5〜10であることを特徴とする請求項1または2記載の成形加工方法。
- 多層構造体が燃料用容器であることを特徴とする請求項1〜3いずれか記載の成形加工方法。
- 成形加工がダイレクトブロー成形であることを特徴とする請求項1〜4いずれか記載の成形加工方法。
