Description
このような添加剤の供給制御は、排気圧力の影響の少ない最大の間隔を有効利用する上で好適である。連続供給というのは、デューティ制御のようなオンオフを細かく繰り返すような供給方法も含める。
このようにすれば、添加剤の連続供給は、排気圧力の影響の少ない空白期間を確実に跨ぐ。
シリンダヘッドに搭載された添加ノズルから排気ポート内に添加剤を噴射する構成では、排気流による添加剤の吹き返しが生じやすい。本発明は、シリンダヘッドに搭載された添加ノズルから排気ポート内に添加剤を噴射する構成において特に有効である。
NOx還元では、添加剤の濃度を高める必要があり、そのためにピストンの2往復内における添加剤の噴射期間を長くする必要がある。ピストンの2往復全体にわたって添加剤を供給する方式では、吹き返しが多くなるが、ピストンの2往復よりも短い供給期間であって空白期間を跨ぐ添加剤の連続供給は、NOx還元に好適である。
好適な例では、前記添加剤の連続供給は、必ず間欠的、且つ前記空白期間を跨いで行なう。
図1に示すように、車両に搭載されたディーゼルエンジン11は、複数の気筒1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8を備えている。複数の気筒1〜8は、第1気筒群12A(気筒1,3,5,7)と第2気筒群12B(気筒2,4,6,8)との2群に分けられている。第1気筒群12Aの気筒1,3,5,7に対応するシリンダヘッド13Aには気筒1,3,5,7毎に燃料噴射ノズル141,143,145,147が取り付けられている。第2気筒群12Bの気筒2,4,6,8に対応するシリンダヘッド13Bには気筒2,4,6,8毎に燃料噴射ノズル142,144,146,148が取り付けられている。燃料噴射ノズル141〜148は、各気筒1〜8内に添加剤(軽油)を噴射する。
(1)図3のグラフから明らかなように、最大の空白期間t1を跨ぐ噴射期間Kaに添加剤の噴射を行なうようにした場合には、添加ノズル30A付近の添加剤の濃度は、最大の空白期間t1を跨がない噴射期間Kd1に添加剤の噴射を行なうようにした場合に比べて、低くなる。最大の空白期間t1を跨ぐ噴射期間Kaに添加剤の噴射(連続供給)を行なうことにより、添加ノズル30Aから噴射された添加剤が気筒1,3,5から排気される排気の圧力を受けにくくなり、添加ノズル30Aから噴射された添加剤の吹き返しが抑制される。
○第1の実施形態において、噴射期間Kaを期間E5の途中から開始し、噴射期間Kbを期間F2の途中から開始してもよい。
○気筒1,7以外の気筒の排気ポート132内に添加剤を噴射するように添加ノズル30Aを設け、気筒2,8以外の気筒の排気ポート132内に添加剤を噴射するように添加ノズル30Bを設けてもよい。
○浄化手段29A,29Bとして、DPNR(ディーゼル・パティキュレート・NOx・リダクション)を用いてもよい。DPNRは、DPF(ディーゼル・パティキュレート・フィルター)に相当するフィルター基材上にNOx吸蔵還元型触媒をコーティングして構成されており、PM(パティキュレート・マター)とNOxとの両方を浄化する機能を有する。
○実施の形態では、添加ノズルは排気ポートに配置されていたが、エキゾーストマニホールドの枝管部に配置するようにしてもよい。
〔1〕前記添加ノズルの噴射期間の終了タイミングは、前記添加ノズルの噴射領域である排気ポートに対応する気筒からの排気の期間の終了タイミングである請求項4に記載の内燃機関における排気ガス浄化装置。
Claims (7)
- ピストンを収容する複数の気筒からなる気筒群と、前記気筒内に燃焼室を区画し、複数の排気ポートを有するシリンダヘッドと、前記シリンダヘッドに連結され、前記複数の排気ポートからの排気が合流するエキゾーストマニホールドと、前記気筒群から排出される排気ガスの排気経路とから構成される燃焼排気系が複数あり、前記排気経路内の排気ガスに含まれる不浄物質を浄化する浄化手段があり、前記気筒群内の気筒からの排気開始が不等間隔で行われ、排気がない空白期間がある内燃機関における排気ガス浄化装置において、
前記排気ポート若しくは前記エキゾーストマニホールドの枝管部に設けられ、前記浄化手段に添加剤を供給する添加剤供給装置と、
前記添加剤供給装置の添加剤の供給を制御する制御手段とを備え、
前記制御手段は、添加剤の連続供給を間欠的に行なうように、且つ前記空白期間を跨いで添加剤の連続供給を行なうように、添加剤の供給を制御する内燃機関における排気ガス浄化装置。 - 前記制御手段は、前記空白期間の開始直前に排気を行なっている気筒の排気行程期間内から添加剤の供給を行なうように制御する請求項1に記載の内燃機関における排気ガス浄化装置。
- 前記制御手段は、添加剤の連続供給をクランク軸が180°回転する期間以上にわたるように制御する請求項1及び請求項2のいずれか1項に記載の内燃機関における排気ガス浄化装置。
- 前記内燃機関は、前記気筒内に燃焼室を区画するシリンダヘッドを備え、前記シリンダヘッドには排気ポートが設けられており、前記添加剤供給装置は、添加剤を噴射する添加ノズルを備え、前記添加ノズルは、前記シリンダヘッドに搭載されて前記排気ポート内に添加剤を噴射する請求項3に記載の内燃機関における排気ガス浄化装置。
- 前記浄化手段は、NOx還元用の触媒である請求項1乃至請求項4のいずれか1項に記載の内燃機関における排気ガス浄化装置。
- 前記燃焼排気系は2つであり、前記内燃機関は、一方の燃焼排気系の第1気筒群と他方の燃焼排気系の第2気筒群とにそれぞれ4つの気筒を備えたV型8気筒内燃機関である請求項1乃至請求項5のいずれか1項に記載の内燃機関における排気ガス浄化装置。
- 前記添加剤の連続供給は、必ず間欠的、且つ前記空白期間を跨いで行なう請求項1乃至請求項6のいずれか1項に記載の内燃機関における排気ガス浄化装置。
