接着
コーティングが金属基材に接着するかどうかを評価するために接着テストを行った。この接着テストは、Minnesota州Saint Paulの3M社より商品名SCOTCH 610として入手可能な接着テープを用い、ASTM D3359-Test Method Bに準じて行った。評価スケールは以下に記載するように、破壊レベルを示すために用いた。
かぶり抵抗は、コーティングが様々な溶液による攻撃に耐える能力を示すめやすである。通常、コーティングに吸収される水の量によって測定される。コートされた基材が水を吸収した場合、これは曇り又は白くなる。かぶりは以下に記載するように、目盛りつきスケールで目視的に示される。
評価スケールは0〜10を用いた。ここで「0」は完全に破壊していることを意味し、「10」は破壊していないことを意味する。かぶりテストにおいて、「10」の評価はコートされたフィルムに白化g起こっていないことを示し、「0」はコートされたフィルムが完全に白化したことを示す。接着テストにおいて、「10」の評価は接着により破壊が起こっていないことを示し、「9」の評価は90%が接着したままであることを示し、「8」の評価は80%が接着したままであることを示している。
ダメージ抵抗はコートされた容器が様々な溶液及び条件にさらされた後に亀裂に耐える能力を示す。亀裂の存在は電解質液を介して電流を流すことにより測定される。コートされた容器に電解質溶液を満たし、容器を通る電流の量を記録する。最初の測定後、缶を特定の高さから傾斜面に落下させる。容器を通過する電流を再び測定する。ダメージがなければ、容器に電流が流れない。平均して5つの容器について評価した。容器の最初の条件(暴露前)と最後の条件(暴露後)の比について計算した。平均評価0の容器はダメージが0であり、一方平均評価2の容器は平均2ミリボルトが流れるダメージを有する。
米国特許第4,476,262号(Chuら)に開示されている例に準じて水性コーティング組成物を製造した。このコーティング組成物を、ASTM 2369-86に記載のようにして揮発性有機化合物含有量についてテストした。
表4は例3及び4において得られたVOC含有量を示している。
慣習法を用いてコーティングを評価した。この慣習法において、加工した缶をコートし、様々なピーク金属温度(PMT)、例えば190℃で60秒間、及び205℃で75秒間硬化させた。次いで加工した缶を以下の表に示す条件にさらした。脱イオン水及びその他を加工した缶にその半分のレベルまで導入した。コートした缶をかぶり及び接着について評価した。テスト条件後、異なる充填レベルの缶を以下のようにして評価した。液体によって覆われている部位(上部壁、下部壁、ドーム)、及び蒸気にさらされている部位(上部壁、下部壁)。通常高さ11cmの缶において、「上部壁」は缶の底から7〜10cmの高さに相当し、「下部壁」は缶の底から2〜5cmの高さを示す。「ドーム」は缶の底の中心である。条件は以下の通りである。
Claims (7)
- コーティング組成物の製造方法であって、以下の工程
エポキシ材料、反応性希釈剤、及びアクリル樹脂を混合すること、
エポキシ材料とアクリル樹脂を反応させてエポキシアクリレート樹脂を形成すること、
反応性希釈剤とエポキシアクリレート樹脂を水中に分散させること、及び
反応性希釈剤を重合させること
を含み、形成される水性コーティング組成物が固体1リットルあたり0.4kg以下の揮発性有機化合物含有量を有する方法。 - 反応性希釈剤がエチルアクリレート、2-エチルヘキシルアクリレート、メチルアクリレート、ブチルアクリレート、イソブチルアクリレート、t-ブチルアクリレート、2-ヒドロキシエチルアクリレート、ポリ(エチレングリコール)アクリレート、イソボルニルアクリレート、ブチルメタクリレート、メチルメタクリレート、エチルメタクリレート、イソブチルメタクリレート、2-ヒドロキシエチルメタクリレート、ポリ(エチレングリコール)メタクリレート、ポリ(プロピレングリコール)メタクリレート、スチレン、置換したスチレン、酢酸ビニル、塩化ビニル、塩化ビニリデン、アクリルアミド、及びアクリロニトリルからなる群より選ばれる、請求項1記載の方法。
- 反応性希釈剤がブチルアクリレート及びスチレンを含む、請求項1記載の方法。
- 反応性希釈剤がブチルアクリレートを含む、請求項1記載の方法。
- コーティング組成物が硬化後、ホルムアルデヒドの含有量が1wt%以下である、請求項1記載の方法。
- 基材をコートする方法であって、
基材上に請求項1記載の方法によって製造されたコーティング組成物を塗布すること、及び
このコーティングを硬化させること
の工程を含む方法。 - 反応性希釈剤が、エポキシアクリレート樹脂の形成に用いられるエポキシ樹脂と本質的に反応性ではない、請求項1記載の方法により製造されたコーティング組成物によりコートされた基材。
