Description
例えば、全白色の駆動状態においては、表示パネル1の全有機EL素子8に対して駆動電流iのピーク電流が供給されている。これにより、ゲートドライバIC3の消費電力が増大し、ゲートドライバIC3が発熱する。
以上説明した本発明に係る表示装置は、図11〜図15に示す様々な電子機器、例えば、デジタルカメラ、ノート型パーソナルコンピュータ、携帯電話等の携帯端末装置、ビデオカメラなど、電子機器に入力された映像信号、若しくは、電子機器内で生成した映像信号を、画像若しくは映像として表示するあらゆる分野の電子機器の表示装置に適用することが可能である。以下に、本発明が適用される電子機器の一例について説明する。

Claims (11)
- 電流値によって輝度が制御される複数の発光素子がマトリクス状に配置された表示パネルと、該表示パネルが水平方向に複数領域に分割された各領域に対応してそれぞれ一つ設けられ、各領域内の発光素子を電流駆動する駆動ICとを備えた表示装置の温度制御方法であって、
前記各駆動ICの電力消費による発熱温度を検出して駆動ICの温度情報を生成し、
前記温度情報と、予め作成して保存されたルックアップテーブルにて、前記表示パネルの上部領域に対応した駆動ICほどその発熱温度の検出データが大きくなるように重み付けした位置情報を加味した温度情報とを比較して前記発光素子への供給電流を制御する、
ことを特徴とする表示装置の温度制御方法。 - 電流値によって輝度が制御される複数の発光素子がマトリクス状に配置された表示パネルと、該表示パネルが水平方向に複数領域に分割された各領域に対応してそれぞれ一つ設けられ、各領域内の発光素子を電流駆動する駆動ICとを備えた表示装置の温度制御方法であって、
前記表示パネルの上部領域に対応した駆動ICほど電力消費による発熱温度の検出データが大きくなるように重み付けして駆動ICの位置情報を加味した温度情報を生成し、
前記重み付けして生成した位置情報を加味した温度情報と、予め作成して保存されたルックアップテーブルの温度情報とを比較して前記発光素子への供給電流を制御する、
ことを特徴とする表示装置の温度制御方法。 - 前記駆動ICの温度情報の生成は、前記駆動ICに備えた感熱部で該駆動ICの発熱温度を検出して行うことを特徴とする請求項1又は2記載の表示装置の温度制御方法。
- 前記駆動ICの温度情報の生成は、前記駆動ICの駆動電流の入力部に備えられた消費電力検出回路で該駆動ICの電力消費を検出して行なうことを特徴とする請求項1又は2記載の表示装置の温度制御方法。
- 電流値によって輝度が制御される複数の発光素子がマトリクス状に配置された表示パネルと、該表示パネルが水平方向に複数領域に分割された各領域に対応してそれぞれ一つ設けられ、各領域内の発光素子を電流駆動する駆動ICとを備えた表示装置であって、
前記各駆動ICの電力消費による発熱温度を検出して温度情報を生成する検出手段と、
前記検出手段からの温度情報と、予め作成して保存されたルックアップテーブルにて、前記表示パネルの上部領域に対応した駆動ICほどその発熱温度の検出データが大きくなるように重み付けした位置情報を加味した温度情報とを比較して前記発光素子への供給電流を制御する画像処理回路と、
を備えたことを特徴とする表示装置。 - 電流値によって輝度が制御される複数の発光素子がマトリクス状に配置された表示パネルと、該表示パネルが水平方向に複数領域に分割された各領域に対応してそれぞれ一つ設けられ、各領域内の発光素子を電流駆動する駆動ICとを備えた表示装置であって、
前記表示パネルの上部領域に対応した駆動ICほど電力消費による発熱温度の検出データが大きくなるように重み付けして位置情報を加味した温度情報を生成する検出手段と、
前記検出手段からの重み付けして生成した位置情報を加味した温度情報と、予め作成して保存されたルックアップテーブルの温度情報とを比較して前記発光素子への供給電流を制御する画像処理回路と、
を備えたことを特徴とする表示装置。 - 前記検出手段は、前記駆動ICの発熱温度を検出する感熱部を備えたことを特徴とする請求項5又は6記載の表示装置。
- 前記感熱部は、順方向降下電圧が温度によって変化するダイオード構造を有したものであることを特徴とする請求項7記載の表示装置。
- 前記検出手段は、前記駆動ICの駆動電流の入力部に該駆動ICの電力消費を検出する消費電力検出回路を備えたことを特徴とする請求項5又は6記載の表示装置。
- 前記画像処理回路は、前記検出手段の温度情報に基づいて画像データの増幅度及び発光素子の発光時間のうちいずれか一方、又は両方を制御することにより発光素子への供給電流を制御することを特徴とする請求項5又は6記載の表示装置。
- 前記発光素子は、有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子であることを特徴とする請求項5又は6記載の表示装置。
