Description
以下、添付の図面を参照して、本発明の好ましい実施の形態について詳細に説明する。
このように、本発明の実施の形態1によれば、明るい映像において、ガンマ基準電圧加重値に応じて段階的にガンマ基準電圧を減少させることによって、有機発光ダイオードとその駆動トランジスタに与えるダメージを減少させることができる。

Claims (15)
- 入力された現在のフレームの映像データの階調レベルをピクセル別に分析した後、分析された映像データの階調レベルを用いて、前記映像データのRGB輝度値を検出して、前記各ピクセルのRGB輝度値の中から最大輝度値を算出するための輝度検出部;
前記輝度検出部によって検出された前記最大輝度値を全部加算するための加算部;
前記加算部によって加算された前記最大輝度値の加算値を用いて、表示画面のピクセル総数で除算して、その除算値を現在のフレームの平均輝度値として算出するための平均値算出部;
前記平均値算出部により算出された現在のフレームの平均輝度値と所定の基準輝度値とを比較してその比較結果に応じてガンマ基準電圧加重値を読み出すためのガンマ加重値読出部;及び
前記ガンマ加重値読出部によって読み出された前記ガンマ基準電圧加重値に応じて、ガンマ基準電圧を段階的に変化させるためのガンマ基準電圧発生部;
を含み、
前記ガンマ加重値読出部は、ガンマ基準電圧を保持させるガンマ基準電圧保持加重値、段階的に増加されるガンマ基準電圧を有するガンマ基準電圧増加加重値、及び段階的に減少されるガンマ基準電圧を有するガンマ基準電圧減少加重値が設定された所定のルックアップテーブルを格納し、前記現在のフレームの平均輝度値と前記所定の基準輝度値とを比べて、その比較結果に応じて、前記所定のルックアップテーブルに設定されたガンマ基準電圧保持加重値、前記ガンマ基準電圧増加加重値、及び前記ガンマ基準電圧減少加重値を読み出して、前記ガンマ基準電圧発生部に供給する
ことを特徴とする有機発光ダイオード表示装置。 - 前記ガンマ加重値読出部は、前記現在のフレームの平均輝度値と前記所定の基準輝度値とが同一である場合には、前記ガンマ基準電圧保持加重値を前記所定のルックアップテーブルから読み出すことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の有機発光ダイオード表示装置。
- 前記ガンマ基準電圧発生部は、前記ガンマ基準電圧保持加重値に応じて、現在供給されるガンマ基準電圧のレベルを保持させることを特徴とする請求項2に記載の有機発光ダイオード表示装置。
- 前記ガンマ加重値読出部は、前記現在のフレームの平均輝度値が前記所定の基準輝度値より大きい場合には、段階的に減少されるガンマ基準電圧を有する前記ガンマ基準電圧減少加重値の中から、前記現在フレームの平均輝度値に対応して設定されたガンマ基準電圧減少加重値を、前記所定のルックアップテーブルから読み出すことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の有機発光ダイオード表示装置。
- 前記ガンマ基準電圧発生部は、段階的に減少されるガンマ基準電圧を有する前記ガンマ基準電圧減少加重値の中から、前記ガンマ加重値読出部によって読み出されたガンマ基準電圧減少加重値に応じて供給されるガンマ基準電圧を、段階的に減少させることを特徴とする請求項4に記載の有機発光ダイオード表示装置。
- 前記ガンマ加重値読出部は、前記現在のフレームの平均輝度値が前記所定の基準輝度値より小さい場合には、段階的に増加されるガンマ基準電圧を有する前記ガンマ基準電圧増加加重値の中から、算出された前記平均輝度値に対応して設定されたガンマ基準電圧増加加重値を、前記所定のルックアップテーブルから読み出すことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の有機発光ダイオード表示装置。
- 前記ガンマ基準電圧発生部は、段階的に増加されるガンマ基準電圧を有する前記ガンマ基準電圧増加加重値の中から、前記ガンマ加重値読出部によって読み出されたガンマ基準電圧増加加重値に応じて供給されるガンマ基準電圧を、段階的に増加させることを特徴とする請求項6に記載の有機発光ダイオード表示装置。
- 前記ガンマ基準電圧発生部から段階的に可変して供給されるガンマ基準電圧を基準として変換されたアナログデータ電圧を段階的に変換して表示パネル上のデータラインに供給するためのデータ駆動部を更に備え、前記輝度検出部、前記加算部、前記平均値算出部及び前記ガンマ加重値読出部は、前記データ駆動部の駆動タイミングを制御するタイミングコントローラ内に内蔵されることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の有機発光ダイオード表示装置。
- 入力された現在のフレームの映像データの階調レベルをピクセル別に分析した後、分析された映像データの階調レベルを用いて、前記映像データの輝度値を検出して、前記各ピクセルのRGB輝度値の中から最大輝度値を算出する段階;
前記最大輝度値を全部加算して、前記最大輝度値の加算値を算出する段階;
前記最大輝度値の加算値を表示画面のピクセル総数で除算して、その除算値を現在のフレームの平均輝度値として算出する段階;
前記現在のフレームの平均輝度値と所定の基準輝度値とを比較してその比較結果に応じてガンマ基準電圧加重値を読み出す段階;及び
前記ガンマ基準電圧加重値に応じて、ガンマ基準電圧を段階的に変化させる段階;
を含み、
前記ガンマ基準電圧加重値を読み出す段階は、ガンマ基準電圧を保持させるガンマ基準電圧保持加重値、段階的に増加されるガンマ基準電圧を有するガンマ基準電圧増加加重値、及び段階的に減少されるガンマ基準電圧を有するガンマ基準電圧減少加重値が設定された所定のルックアップテーブルから読み出し、前記現在のフレームの平均輝度値と前記所定の基準輝度値とを比べて、その比較結果に応じて、前記所定のルックアップテーブルに設定されたガンマ基準電圧保持加重値、前記ガンマ基準電圧増加加重値、及び前記ガンマ基準電圧減少加重値を読み出す
ことを特徴とする有機発光ダイオード表示装置の駆動方法。 - 前記ガンマ基準電圧加重値を読み出す段階は、
前記現在のフレームの平均輝度値と前記所定の基準輝度値とが同一である場合には、前記ガンマ基準電圧保持加重値を前記所定のルックアップテーブルから読み出すことを特徴とする請求項9に記載の有機発光ダイオード表示装置の駆動方法。 - 前記ガンマ基準電圧を段階的に変化させる段階は、
前記ガンマ基準電圧保持加重値に応じて、現在供給されるガンマ基準電圧のレベルを保持させることを特徴とする請求項10に記載の有機発光ダイオード表示装置の駆動方法。 - 前記ガンマ基準電圧加重値を読み出す段階は、
前記現在のフレームの平均輝度値が前記所定の基準輝度値より大きい場合には、段階的に減少されるガンマ基準電圧を有する前記ガンマ基準電圧減少加重値の中から、前記現在フレームの平均輝度値に対応して設定されたガンマ基準電圧減少加重値を、前記所定のルックアップテーブルから読み出すことを特徴とする請求項9に記載の有機発光ダイオード表示装置の駆動方法。 - 前記ガンマ基準電圧を段階的に変化させる段階は、
段階的に減少されるガンマ基準電圧を有する前記ガンマ基準電圧減少加重値の中から、読み出されたガンマ基準電圧減少加重値に応じて供給されるガンマ基準電圧を、段階的に減少させることを特徴とする請求項12に記載の有機発光ダイオード表示装置の駆動方法。 - 前記ガンマ基準電圧加重値を読み出す段階は、
前記現在のフレームの平均輝度値が前記所定の基準輝度値より小さい場合には、段階的に増加されるガンマ基準電圧を有する前記ガンマ基準電圧増加加重値の中から、前記平均輝度値に対応して設定されたガンマ基準電圧増加加重値を、前記所定のルックアップテーブルから読み出すことを特徴とする請求項9に記載の有機発光ダイオード表示装置の駆動方法。 - 前記ガンマ基準電圧を段階的に変化させる段階は、
段階的に増加されるガンマ基準電圧を有する前記ガンマ基準電圧増加加重値の中から、読み出されたガンマ基準電圧増加加重値に応じて供給されるガンマ基準電圧を、段階的に増加させることを特徴とする請求項14に記載の有機発光ダイオード表示装置の駆動方法。
