Abstract
【解決手段】自発光表示パネル120と、ユーザによる設定などに基づいて自発光表示パネルの発光に必要な必要最大輝度を算出する必要輝度算出部108と、必要最大輝度に応じて自発光表示パネルに供給する最大電圧を変更する必要輝度算出部108と、自発光表示パネルの発光量と、パネルドライバが自発光表示パネルに供給する電圧との間のガンマ特性に対する逆ガンマ特性に関するデータを保持する記憶部104と、自発光表示パネルが表示可能な最大輝度で発光するときと同一の階調数を維持しながら、必要最大輝度に応じて逆ガンマ特性の適用範囲を変更し、逆ガンマ特性に基づいて出力信号を生成するパネルガンマ生成部106を備え、パネルドライバは出力信号に基づいて自発光表示パネルを駆動する。

まず、図1を参照して、本発明の第1の実施形態に係る有機ELディスプレイ装置100の構成について説明する。図1は、本実施形態に係る有機ELディスプレイ装置100を示すブロック図である。
[必要最大輝度の変更方法]
本実施形態に係る有機ELディスプレイ装置100において、OLEDパネル120の発光に必要な最大輝度の変更方法について説明する。
変換後入力値 = LUT(A)×255/A1 ……(1)
変換後出力値 = LUT(B)×1/VB1 ……(2)
図1を参照して、本実施形態に係る有機ELディスプレイ装置100における映像入力信号に基づく映像の表示処理に関する動作について説明する。

Claims (4)
- アクティブマトリクス駆動型の自発光表示パネルと、
ユーザによる設定、周囲環境又は映像信号に基づいて前記自発光表示パネルの発光に必要な必要最大輝度を算出する必要輝度算出部と、
前記必要最大輝度に応じて前記自発光表示パネルに供給する最大電圧を変更し、前記自発光表示パネルを駆動するパネルドライバと、
前記自発光表示パネルの発光量と、前記パネルドライバが前記自発光表示パネルに供給する電圧との間のガンマ特性に対する逆ガンマ特性に関するデータを保持する記憶部と、
前記自発光表示パネルが表示可能な最大輝度で発光するときと同一の階調数を維持しながら、前記必要最大輝度に応じて前記逆ガンマ特性の適用範囲を変更し、前記逆ガンマ特性に基づいて前記パネルドライバへの出力信号を生成するパネルガンマ生成部と、
を備え、
前記パネルドライバは、前記出力信号に基づいて前記自発光表示パネルを駆動する、自発光表示装置。 - 前記パネルガンマ生成部において、前記逆ガンマ特性の適用範囲内に入力される信号の階調数は、前記必要最大輝度の値に関わらず、前記自発光表示パネルが表示可能な最大輝度で発光するときと同一である、請求項1に記載の自発光表示装置。
- 前記必要最大輝度に応じて変更される前記逆ガンマ特性の適用範囲は、前記最大電圧に基づいて決定される、請求項1又は2に記載の自発光表示装置。
- 必要輝度算出部が、ユーザによる設定、周囲環境又は映像信号に基づいてアクティブマトリクス駆動型の自発光表示パネルの発光に必要な必要最大輝度を算出するステップと、
パネルドライバが、前記必要最大輝度に応じて前記自発光表示パネルに供給する最大電圧を変更し、前記自発光表示パネルを駆動するステップと、
記憶部が、前記自発光表示パネルの発光量と、前記パネルドライバが前記自発光表示パネルに供給する電圧との間のガンマ特性に対する逆ガンマ特性に関するデータを保持するステップと、
パネルガンマ生成部が、前記自発光表示パネルが表示可能な最大輝度で発光するときと同一の階調数を維持しながら、前記必要最大輝度に応じて前記逆ガンマ特性の適用範囲を変更し、前記逆ガンマ特性に基づいて前記パネルドライバへの出力信号を生成するステップと、
前記パネルドライバが、前記出力信号に基づいて前記自発光表示パネルを駆動するステップと、
を備える、自発光表示装置の駆動方法。
