【発明の詳細な説明】
【０００１】
【産業上の利用分野】本発明はゴルフボールに関し、さ
らに詳しくは反応の遅いポリアミン硬化剤および二官能
価グリコールからなる群より選択される反応の遅い硬化
剤により硬化されるポリウレタンプレポリマーのポリウ
レタン組成物から作られるポリウレタン製カバーを有す
るゴルフボールに関する。上記ゴルフボールは従来のポ
リウレタン組成物から作られるゴルフボールより改善さ
れたレジリエンスおよび剪断抵抗を有する。
【０００２】
【従来の技術】従来、ゴルフボールは固体のワンピース
コアまたはセンターの周囲を細い弾性の糸で巻くことに
より作られる糸巻きコアいずれかのコアの周囲にカバー
をモールディングすることにより作られている。上記セ
ンターは固体塊または上記糸を回りに巻く前に凍らせら
れた液体の入ったエンベロップである。固体のコアから
作られたゴルフボールは、糸巻きコアを有するボールが
スリーピースボールと言われているのに対し、従来ツー
ピースボールと言われている。ワンピースのゴルフボー
ル（すなわち均質な固体のゴルフボール）を作る試みが
なされているが、しかしながら、今日まで、商業的に許
容され得るワンピースのゴルフボールは作られていな
い。
【０００３】サーリン（SURLYN（登録商標）：E.I.dupo
nt de Nemours & Co.,により製造されたアイオノマー樹
脂）がゴルフ業界に紹介された1960年代まで、バラタ(B
alata)はゴルフボールのカバーに主材料として用いられ
ていた。サーリンはバラタより安く、バラタより優れた
切断抵抗を有する。現在、サーリンはツーピースゴルフ
ボールのカバーストックの主材料として用いられてい
る。しかしながら、サーリンでおおわれたゴルフボール
の問題は、ゴルファーがバラタで慣れている“クリック
(click) ”および“感触(feel)”がサーリンにはないと
いうことである。“クリックとはボールがゴルフクラブ
により打たれた時に発する音であり、一方“感触”とは
ボールが打たれた時にゴルファーに伝わる全体的な感覚
である。
【０００４】サーリンのように、ポリウレタンはバラタ
と比べて比較的価格が安く、バラタより優れた切断抵抗
を与えるので、ゴルフボールのカバーストックとしてポ
リウレタンを用いることが提案されてきた。しかしなが
ら、サーリンでおおわれたゴルフボールとは違って、ポ
リウレタンでおおわれたゴルフボールはバラタの“クリ
ック”および“感触”を有するように作り得る。
【０００５】ポリウレタンはポリウレタン プレポリマ
ーと硬化剤の反応による生成物である。上記ポリウレタ
ン プレポリマーは、ポリオールとジイソシアネートの
反応により形成される生成物である。上記硬化剤はジア
ミンまたはグリコールのいずれかである。上記硬化剤と
上記ポリウレタン プレポリマーの反応を促進させるた
めに触媒がしばしば用いられる。
【０００６】従来、市場におけるポリウレタンの範ちゅ
うには、熱硬化性樹脂および熱可塑性樹脂の２つがあ
る。熱可塑性ウレタン樹脂はたとえば４，４′−ジフェ
ニルメタン ジイソシアネート (MDI)または３，３′−
ジメチル−４，４′−ビフェニレン ジイソシアネート
(TODI)のようなジイソシアネートと、１，４−ブタジオ
ールのようなジオールで硬化するポリオールとから生成
される。熱硬化性ウレタン樹脂はたとえば２，４−トル
エン ジイソシアネート(TDI) またはメチレン−ビス−
（４−シクロヘキシン イソシアネート）(HMDI)のよう
なジイソアネートと、メチレンジアニリン(MDA) のよう
なポリアミン、またはトリメチロール プロパンのよう
な三官能価グリコールまたはＮ，Ｎ，Ｎ′，Ｎ′−テト
ラキス（２−ヒドロキシプロピル）−エチレンジアミン
のような四官能価グリコールで硬化されるポリオールと
から生成される。
【０００７】1978年10月31日に発行された米国特許第4,
123,061 号はポリエーテルのポリウレタン プレポリマ
ーとたとえば三官能価ポリオール、四官能価ポリオール
またはジアミンのような硬化剤からゴルフボールが作ら
れることを報告している。上記特許で報告された特定の
ジアミンは、３，３′−ジクロロベンジデン（３，３′
−dichlorobenzidene)、３，３′−ジクロロ−４，４′
−ジアミノ ジフェニルメタン(MOCA)、Ｎ，Ｎ，Ｎ′，
Ｎ′−テトラキス（２−ヒドロキシプロピル）エチレン
ジアミンおよびカラロンＬ（Curalon L:Uniroyal社が販
売している芳香族ジアミンの混合物の商標名）である。
これらのジアミンは反応の速いジアミン硬化剤として当
業者に認識されている。
【０００８】1976年12月 2日に発行された米国特許第3,
989,568 号は、１つまたは２つのポリウレタン プレポ
リマーと１つまたは２つの硬化剤を用いる３成分システ
ムを教示している。ポリオールおよびジアミン硬化剤は
上記特許により教示されている。必須の特徴は、上記シ
ステムのため選択される反応体は２つもしくはそれ以上
の競合反応内において異なる反応速度を有さなければな
らないということである。教示された特定のジアミン硬
化剤はメチレンジアニリン(MDA) のようなアンヒンダー
ドアミンおよび５，５′−メチレン−ビス−（メチル
アントラニレート、methyl anthranilate ）のような芳
香族ヒンダードアミンである。これらのアミンは反応の
速いジアミン硬化剤として当業者に認識されている。
【０００９】
【発明の構成】反応の遅いポリアミン硬化剤または二官
能価グリコールの群から選択される反応の遅い硬化剤で
硬化されたポリウレタンプレポリマーは、優れた耐久性
と性能を有するゴルフボールカバーを提供することが発
見された。本発明により作られるゴルフボールは、バラ
タまたはサーリンから作られたカバーを有するゴルフボ
ールと比較して、改善された剪断抵抗および切断抵抗を
有することがわかった。
【００１０】広義には、本発明は、反応の遅いポリアミ
ン硬化剤または二官能価グリコールの群から選択される
反応の遅い硬化剤で硬化されたポリウレタン プレポリ
マーから作られるゴルフボール製品に関する。本明細書
中に使われている“ゴルフボール製品”は、カバー、コ
ア、センターまたはワンピースゴルフボールを意味す
る。本発明によって作られたゴルフボールのカバーは、
優れた剪断抵抗、切断抵抗、耐久性およびレジリエンス
を有することがわかった。好ましくは、本発明のポリウ
レタン組成物はゴルフボールのカバーを作るために用い
られる。
【００１１】本発明での使用に適したポリウレタン プ
レポリマーは、たとえばポリエーテル、ポリエステルま
たはポリラクトンのようなポリオールと、ジイソシアネ
ートとから生成される。本発明での使用に適したジイソ
シアネートには、４，４′−ジフェニルメタン ジイソ
シアネート (MDI)および３，３′−ジメチル−４，４′
−ビフェニレン ジイソシアネート(TODI)などがある。
【００１２】適したポリエーテル ポリオールには、ポ
リテトラメチレンエーテル グリコール、ポリ（オキシ
プロピレン）グリコールおよびポリブタジエン グリコ
ールなどがある。適したポリエステル ポリオールに
は、ポリエチレン アジペートグリコール、ポリエチレ
ン プロピレン アジペート グリコールおよびポリブ
チレン アジペート グリコールなどがある。適したポ
リラクトン ポリオールには、ジエチレン グリコール
イニシエーテッド カプロラクトン（diethylene gly
col initiated caprolactone) 、１，４−ブタジオール
イニシエーテッド カプロラクトン、トリメチロール
プロパン イニシエーテッド カプロラクトンおよび
ネオペンチルグリコール イニシエーテッド カプロラ
クトンなどがある。好ましいポリオールはポリテトラメ
チレン エーテル グリコール、ポリエチレン アジペ
ート グリコール、ポリブチレン アジペート グリコ
ールおよびジエチレングリコール イニシエーテッド
カプロラクトンである。
【００１３】本発明での使用に適した硬化剤は、３，５
−シメチルチオ−２，４−トルエンジアミン、３，５−
ジメチルチオ−２，６−トルエン ジアミン、Ｎ，Ｎ′
−ジアルキル ジアミノ ジフェニルメタン、トリメチ
レン グリコール−ジ−パラ−アミノベゾエート、ポリ
テトラメチレン オキサイド−ジ−パラ−アミノベンゾ
エートまたは二官能価グリコールおよびそれらの混合物
から成る反応の遅いポリアミン郡から選択される。３，
５−ジメチルチオ−２，４−トルエン ジアミンと３，
５−ジメチルチオ−２，６−トルエン ジアミンは異性
体であり、Etyl社がエタキュアー300 （ETHACURE（登録
商標）300)の商標名で販売している。トリメチレン グ
リコール−ジ−パラ−アミノベンゾエートはポラキュア
ー 740M(POLACURE 740M) の商標名でポラロイド社より
販売されており、ポリテトラメチレン オキサイド−ジ
−パラ−アミノベンゾエートは、ポラミン(POLAMINE)の
商標名で販売されている。Ｎ，Ｎ′−ジアルキル ジア
ミン ジフェニルメタンはユニリンク(UNILINK（登録商
標））の商標名でUOP 社より販売されている。
【００１４】適した二官能価グリコールは、１，４−ブ
タンジオール、１，３−ブタンジオール、２，３−ブタ
ンジオール、２，３−ジメチル−２，３−ブタンジオー
ル、ジプロピレン グリコールおよびエチレン グリコ
ールである。二官能価グリコールは本質的に反応が遅
い。
【００１５】アミンに関して反応が遅い硬化剤とは、硬
化剤のアミノ基が反応部位に隣接した電子求引性基(ele
ctron with drawing groups)または妨害バルク基(inter
fering bulky groups)の存在のために、立体的におよび
／または電子的に妨害されていることを意味する。反応
部位または電子求引性基を３つの炭素間の４つ以上の炭
素の長い鎖状の柔軟なスペーサーもまたポリアミンのよ
り遅い反応性に貢献する。
【００１６】３，５−ジメチルチオ−２，４−トルエン
ジアミンと３，５−ジメチルチオ−２，６−トルエンジ
アミンのような反応の遅いポリアミン硬化剤は、アミノ
基の反応能力を立体的に妨害する基で置換されたベンゼ
ン環の２つもしくはそれ以上の部位を有する異性体であ
る。トリメチレン グリコール−ジ−パラ−アミノベン
ゾエートおよびポリテトラメチレン オキサイド−ジ−
パラ−アミノベンゾエートなどの反応の遅いポリアミン
硬化剤は、２つの電子求引性カルボニル基、−ＣＯ−Ｏ
−、に隣接した２つのアミノ基をもち、それぞれトリメ
チレン−（ＣＨ2 ）3 −およびポリテトラメチレン オ
キサイド−［−（ＣＨ2 ）4 −Ｏ−］ｎ−といった柔軟
なスペーサーにより離間されている。さらにポリアミン
のもう１つの適した群には、芳香族アミノ基、−φ−Ｎ
Ｈ2 −、がアルキル基によって置換されて芳香族第２ア
ミン−φ−ＮＲＨとなる４，４′−ジブチル ジアミン
ジフェニルメタンのようなＮ，Ｎ′−ジアルキル ジア
ミノ ジフェニルメタンが含まれる。アミン原子に結合
したアルキル基、アミノ基間の柔軟なスペーサー、そし
てアミノ原子に隣接した置換された電子求引性基および
バルク基の全てがアミノの反応性を減少させ、反応時間
を増大させる。
【００１７】好ましくはゴルフボールは、カバーがポリ
ウレタン プレポリマーと反応の遅いポリアミン硬化剤
または二官能価グリコールとから成るポリウレタン組成
物から作られ、コアのまわりにこのカバーを成形するこ
とにより本発明に従って作られる。好ましくは、上記カ
バーは、1989年 2月22日に出願した米国特許出願第314,
466 号の教示に従ってコアのまわりに成形される。上記
出願は、本出願に引用により含まれている。
【００１８】前記ポリウレタンカバーの望ましくない黄
っぽい色をやわらげるために、効果的な量の白色顔料お
よび紫色薬剤を前記カバー組成物に加えることができ
る。適した紫色薬剤にはHoechst Celarese社が販売して
いるPV Fast Violet RL Special とHostapern Violet R
L Extra Strong、さらにSun Chemical社が販売している
Violet 23 がある。カバー組成に加えられる紫色薬剤の
量は、カバーストックの合計重量を基準にして好ましく
は約0.0005％から約0.002 ％である。好ましい結果が約
0.001 重量％で得られた。好ましくは、カバー組成の合
計重量の約3.5 ％の白色顔料が本発明のカバーストック
で使用される。適した白色顔料は二酸化チタン、炭酸カ
ルシウム、酸化亜鉛および硫化亜鉛である。
【００１９】前記カバー組成に加えることのできる付加
成分には、紫外線安定剤および他の染料、並びに通常量
の光学光沢剤とけい光顔料および染料がある。
【００２０】ウレタンエラストマーを加工する方法には
プレポリマー技術およびワンショット技術の二つの基本
的な技術がある。プレポリマー技術では最初に、約7.5
％から14％のイソシアネート基を有するプレポリマーを
生成するために、ベースポリオールと過剰のベースジイ
ソシアネートの反応が必要である。前記プレポリマーは
さらに適切な硬化剤と反応され、エラストマーを生成す
る。前記ワンショット技術では、ジイソシアネート、ベ
ースポリオールおよび硬化剤を用い、すべて一度に反応
される。前記プレポリマー技術は、化学反応の制御が比
較的良好であり、その結果エラストマーとしてより一様
な特性を生じるので、好ましい。
【００２１】本発明に従ってゴルフボールカバーを成形
する好ましい方法は、初めに開いたモールドで硬化工程
を行ない、次にモールドカップの１つに前記コアを置く
成形工程を行う。次にモールドを閉じ、ウレタンを硬化
させる。成形工程は、なめらかな壁面の固定されたピン
モールドカップを有する第１モールドを用いる最初の成
形工程と、最初の工程でつくられたなめらかな表面のゴ
ルフボール製品にディンプルパターンをつけるために用
いられる負のディンプルパターンのついたモールドカッ
プを有する第２のモールドに前記なめらかな表面のボー
ルをあてがう最終成形工程とを含む。
【００２２】本発明の方法における予備硬化工程は、開
いたモールドの両半部にウレタンカバーストック材料を
注入することおよびその材料を部分的に硬化させること
を含む。部分的硬化に必要な時間は、カバーストックの
正確な組成により変化する。部分的硬化に必要な時間
は、上側のモールドカップが回転して下側のモールドカ
ップの上にかぶさった時に、上側のモールドカップ内に
置かれたコアがモールドカップから落ちないほどにモー
ルドカップの壁面とコア間でウレタンの接着力が十分に
なるのに必要な時間にほぼ等しいことを出願者は発見し
た。約0.5 分の時間で良好な結果が得られた。初めの硬
化時間は、ステンレス鋼またはしんちゅうから作られた
モールドカップとコア間で都合好く決定される。
【００２３】初めの硬化工程に必要な時間を決定する便
利な方法は、ウレタンカバーストックの粘度を測定する
ことである。一般的に、ポリウレタンの粘度はおおよそ
２倍に増大する。粘度を決定するために、水平に対し30
°の角度に設置されみがかれたアルミニウムの表面に約
２mlのポリウレタンカバーストックをのせる。
【００２４】硬化剤を加えたプレポリマーであるカバー
ストックは、最初の混合に際し、前記カバーストックは
約５秒間３インチ（7.62cm) 移動する。最初の硬化工程
が完了した際に、約２mlのカバーストックは30°の角度
に設置されたアルミニウムの表面を約30秒間で３インチ
(7.62cm)移動する。
【００２５】最初の成形工程において、ピンがカバース
トックの中のコアを正確に位置決めしている間にカバー
ストックはコアのまわりに流れ込み、そして最終ゴルフ
ボールと実質的に同じサイズおよび形を有するゴルフボ
ール製品が作られる。モールドは引っ込み式ピンタイプ
のものでもよいが、固定されたピン、すなわち引っ込み
式ではないピンのついたモールドの使用が好ましい。最
初の成形操作によるこのゴルフボール製品は、なめらか
な表面のゴルフボール製品にディンプルパターンをつけ
るためおよび存在するピンポールを全てふさぐために熱
と圧力が加えられる最終成形スップにいく。
【００２６】好ましくは、最初の成形工程において、糸
巻または固体いずれかのコアがピンモールドの上半分に
置かれ、前記モールドは閉められてモールドプレート間
を密閉しておくために低い圧力が加えられる。このよう
にして作られたボールが容易に傷ついたりゆがんだりせ
ずに扱えるようになると、最初の成形工程のなめらかな
表面のゴルフボール製品はモールドから離すことができ
る初めのなめらかな壁面のモールドのピンは、この最初
の成形工程の間、コアの適切な位置決めを確実にする。
【００２７】最終成形工程において、なめらかな表面の
ゴルフボール製品のカバーにディンプルパターンをつけ
るために圧縮モールドが用いられる。この最終成形工程
で、前記ボールのカバーにあいているあらゆるピンホー
ルを閉じるため、また前記カバーをモールド半部のディ
ンプルパターンに合わせるため、なめらかな表面のゴル
フボール製品に熱と圧力が加えられる。
【００２８】カバーストックに２番目のモールドのモー
ルドカップのディンプルパターンがつけられるようにな
った時に、最初の成形工程のなめらかな表面のゴルフボ
ール製品は最終成形工程にいくことが肝要である。最初
の成形工程で用いられるモールドは、固定ピンモールド
または引っ込み式ピンモールドのいずれでもよい。小さ
いイニシャルコスト、安い操作費用および安い維持費用
並びに扱いやすさといった点で、固定ピンモールドの使
用が好ましい。どちらの場合においても、モールドカッ
プのサイズは従来のゴルフボールモールドのサイズとほ
ぼ同じである。すなわち、公称アメリカンサイズのボー
ルには1.68インチ（4.25cm) 、そしてブリティッシュサ
イズのボールには公称1.62インチ（4.10cm) である。
【００２９】最終成形工程で用いられるモールドは、各
モールドカップが所望の負のディンプルパターンを有す
る従来の圧縮モールドが好ましい。
【００３０】中間硬化工程は、好ましくは、最初の成形
工程の後であって最終成形工程の前に行なわれる。最終
成形工程の熱と圧力の加えられた後にカバーストックが
圧縮モールドのモールド半部のディンプルパターンを保
持できるように、前記中間硬化工程は、前記カバースト
ックをある程度硬化させる。中間硬化工程が短かすぎる
と、カバーストックは最終成形工程からのディンプルパ
ターンを保持できず、品質の悪いゴルフボールが作られ
てしまう。中間硬化工程が長すぎると、カバーストック
に圧縮モールドからモールド半部のディンプルパターン
がつけられなくなる。中間工程の時間は、カバーストッ
クの化学組成およびカバーストックを形成する際に用い
られた硬化剤とプレポリマーの割合いにより変化する。
【００３１】時間、温度および圧力は経験に基づきカバ
ーストックの各組成物により変化する最初の成形工程
は、最初の成形工程の間モールドを密閉しておくのに十
分な圧力をかけたうえで、モールド温度およびカバース
トックの化学組成により、約５分から約30分が適してい
ることがわかった。
【００３２】中間硬化工程もまた経験的に決定される。
中間硬化工程は、典型的に周囲の温度と圧力下で約１時
間までである。
【００３３】最初の成形時間と中間硬化時間は、十分な
量の触媒がカバーストックに加えられた場合、モールド
温度が高温を維持した場合または化学反応が速い場合
に、最小限に保持され得る。
【００３４】中間硬化工程の時間、温度および圧力は経
験的に決定できるが、カバーストック組成の剪断抵抗を
測定するレオメーターを用いることによってそれを計算
できることがわかった。硬化の程度はまた、Rapra Tech
nology社により販売されているバイブレーティング ニ
ードル キュアメーター（Vibrating Needle Curemete
r) により測定することができる。
【００３５】本発明に従って作られたウレタン樹脂につ
いて、達成された硬化度は、とりわけ時間、温度、硬化
剤の種類および用いられた触媒の量による。カバー組成
物の硬化度は組成物の硬度に直接比例することがわかっ
た。中間硬化工程の終わり（すなわち最終成形工程の直
前）において、カバーストックにとってショア硬度約10
D から30D が本発明に適することがわかった。約12D か
ら20D の硬度がより好ましい。
【００３６】この硬度はShore Lustrument and Mfg. 社
により製造されたショアＤジュロメーター(Shore D Dur
ometer）により適切に測定される。前記測定はASTM D 2
240“ジュロメーターの手段によるゴムとプラスチック
の押込高度”に従い行なわれる。このテストはテストス
ラブモールド中に 140°Ｆ（60℃）にて5.5 分間成形さ
れた0.25インチ（６mm) 厚テストプラックを用いて行な
われる。前記プラックの硬度は5.5 分後およびこれより
１分間隔で合計30分まで測定される。カバーストックの
硬度がジュロメーター硬度測定技術により測定されて10
D から30D に達した時に、中間硬化工程の時間が決定さ
れる。この時間は５分から30分が適切であることがわか
っている。
【００３７】中間硬化後ゴルフボール製品は、最終硬化
が行なわれる圧縮モールドに移される。この工程で、前
記ゴルフボール製品はその表面にディンプルをつけるた
めに熱および圧力が加えられる。最初の成形工程におい
て固定ピンモールドが用いられたならば、最終成形工程
はピンホールを閉じるために十分な熱と圧力をボールに
加えられることによりカバーのホールを閉じる。この最
終硬化時間は適切には約１分から４分であり、約２分に
おいて良好な結果が得られた。温度は適切には約 150°
Ｆ（65.5℃) から約 275°Ｆ（135 ℃）であり、良好な
結果が約1800psi の圧力において約 195°Ｆ（90.5℃）
にて得られた。モールドの予備加熱および冷却を含む最
終成形工程の合計時間はおおよそ８分である。
【００３８】最終成形工程で作られたディンプルを有す
るゴルフボール製品は、バフ研磨、絵付け、ネームプレ
ーティング(nameplating) および包装などの標準ゴルフ
ボール仕上操作に供される。
【００３９】
【実施例】本発明を以下の実施例に基づいてより詳細に
説明する。
【００４０】実施例１ この実施例は、本発明によるポリウレタンでカバーされ
たツーピースゴルフボールの製造に関する。下の表Ｉは
ゴルフボールカバー組成を作るのに用いられた成分を示
す。

【００４２】** ポラミン250 は約476g/ モルの分子量
を有するポリテトラメチレン オキサイド−ジ−パラ−
アミノベンゾエートである。
【００４３】ゴルフボールを、1989年 2月22日に出願さ
れた米国特許出願第314,466 号の教示に従って上記組成
より形成されたカバーを有するように作った。このボー
ルを、バラタから作られたカバーを有する従来のスリー
ピースボールと比較テストした。
【００４４】本発明のゴルフボールは下の表ＩＩに示さ
れるように従来のボールに匹敵することがわかった。

び飛距離は従来の方法により測定された。前記384 Tour
は、Massachusetts 州 New Bed ford にあるAcushnet社
により販売されているボールである。
【００４６】実施例２ この実施例は本発明によるポリウレタンでおおわれた糸
巻きゴルフボールの製造に関する。下の表ＩＩＩはゴル
フボールカバー組成を作るのに用いられた成分を示す。

【００４８】ゴメフボールを、1989年 2月22日に出願さ
れた米国特許出願第314,466 号の教示に従って上記組成
より形成されたカバーを有するように作った。このボー
ルを、バラタから作られたカバーを有する従来のスリー
ピースボールと比較テストした。
【００４９】本発明のゴルフボールは下の表ＩＶに示さ
れるように従来のボールに匹敵することがわかった。

アミン硬化剤がとともに使用できることがわかった。し
かし、反応の遅いポリアミン硬化剤が二官能価グリコー
ル硬化剤で希釈されると、カバーは100 ％反応の遅いポ
リアミン硬化剤で作られたカバーよりたやすく、切断さ
れたり剪断されたりすることがわかった。
【００５１】本発明に従って製造されたゴルフボール製
品は、95％から５％の反応の遅いジアミン硬化剤と５％
から95％の二官能価グリコール硬化剤を含む硬化剤によ
り硬化されるポリウレタン プレポリマーから構成され
得る。両硬化剤が共に用いられる場合は、約25％から約
75％の前記ポリアミンが使用され、約75％から約25％の
二官能価グリコールが使用されることが好ましい。
【００５２】ここに述べた本発明の実施例は単に例示で
あって、本発明がこれら実施例に限られるものではない
ことに留意されたい。種々の変形および変更も、本発明
の精神および範囲を逸脱することなく本発明に含まれ
る。

Claims (12)

    (57)【特許請求の範囲】
  1. 【請求項１】 コアとカバーを有するゴルフボールであ
    って、前記カバーが反応の遅いポリアミンおよび二官能
    価グリコールから成る群より選択される反応の遅い硬化
    剤により硬化されるポリウレタン プレポリマーを含む
    ポリウレタン組成物から作られることを特徴とするゴル
    フボール。
  2. 【請求項２】 前記反応の遅いポリアミン硬化剤が、
    ３，５−ジメチルチオ−２，４−トルエンジアミン、
    ３，５−ジメチルチオ−２，６−トルエンジアミン、Ｎ
    −Ｎ′−ジアルキルジアミノ ジフェニル メタン、ト
    リメチレン グリコール−ジ−パラ−アミノベンゾエー
    ト、ポリテトラメチレンオキサイド−ジ−パラ−アミノ
    ベンゾエート、およびこれらの混合物から成る群より選
    択されることを特徴とする請求項１記載のゴルフボー
    ル。
  3. 【請求項３】 前記ポリウレタン プレポリマーがジイ
    ソシアネートおよびポリオールから調製されることを特
    徴とする請求項１記載のゴルフボール。
  4. 【請求項４】 前記ポリオールが、ポリテトラメチレン
    エーテル グリコール、ポリ（オキシプロピレン）グ
    リコール、ポリブタジエン グリコール、１，４−ブタ
    ンジオール イニシエーテッド カプロラクトン、ジエ
    チレン グリコール イニシエーテッド カプロラクト
    ン、トリメチロール プロパン イニシエーテッド カ
    プロラクトン、ネオペンチル グリコール イニシエー
    テッドカプロラクトン、ポリエチレン アジペート グ
    リコール、ポリエチレン プロピレン アジペート グ
    リコール、およびポリブチレン アジペート グリコー
    ルから成る群より選択されることを特徴とする請求項３
    記載のゴルフボール。
  5. 【請求項５】 前記二官能価グリコール硬化剤が、１，
    ４−ブタンジオール、１，３−ブタンジオール、２，３
    −ブタンジオール、２，３−ジメチル−２，３−ブタン
    ジオール、ジプロピレン グリコール、エチレン グリ
    コール、およびこれらの混合物から成る群より選択され
    ることを特徴とする請求項１記載のゴルフボール。
  6. 【請求項６】 前記ジイソシアネートが、４，４′−ジ
    フェニルメタン ジイソシアネート、および３，３′−
    ジメチル−４，４′−ビフェニレン ジイソシアネート
    から成る群より選択されることを特徴とする請求項１記
    載のゴルフボール。
  7. 【請求項７】 コアとカバーを有するゴルフボールであ
    って、前記カバーがポリオールとジイソシアネートより
    成るポリウレタンプレポリマーから、重量％で約５％か
    ら95％の反応の遅いポリアミン硬化剤と重量％で約95％
    から５％の二官能価グリコールから成る硬化剤組成物を
    用いて作られることを特徴とするゴルフボール。
  8. 【請求項８】 前記反応が遅いポリアミン硬化剤が、
    ３，５−ジメチルチオ−２，４−トルエンジアミン、
    ３，５−ジメチルチオ−２，６−トルエンジアミン、Ｎ
    −Ｎ′−ジアルキルジアミン ジフェニル メタン、ト
    リメチレン グリコール−ジ−パラ−アミノベンゾエー
    ト、ポリテトラメチレンオキサイド−ジ−パラ−アミノ
    ベンゾエート、およびこれらの混合物から成る群より選
    択されることを特徴とする請求項７記載のゴルフボー
    ル。
  9. 【請求項９】 前記ポリウレタン プレポリマーがジイ
    ソシアネートとポリオールから調製されることを特徴と
    する請求項７記載のゴルフボール。
  10. 【請求項１０】 上記ポリオールが、ポリテトラメチレ
    ン エーテル グリコール、ポリ（オキシプロピレン）
    グリコール、ポリブタジエン グリコール、１，４−ブ
    タンジオール イニシエーテッド カプロラクトン、ジ
    エチレン グリコール イニシエーテッド カプロラク
    トン、トリメチロール プロパン イニシエーテッド
    カプロラクトン、ネオペンチル グリコール イニシエ
    ーテッド カプロラクトン、ポリエチレン アジペート
    グリコール、ポリエチレンプロピレン アジペート
    グリコール、およびポリブチレン アジペート グリコ
    ールから成る群より選択されることを特徴とする請求項
    ６記載のゴルフボール。
  11. 【請求項１１】 前記二官能価グリコール硬化剤が、
    １，４−ブタンジオール、１，３−ブタンジオール、
    ２，３−ブタンジオール、２，３−ジメチル−２，３−
    ブタンジオール、ジプロピレン グリコール、エチレン
    グリコール、およびこれらの混合物から成る群より選
    択されることを特徴とする請求項７記載のゴルフボー
    ル。
  12. 【請求項１２】 前記ジイソシアネートが、４，４′−
    ジフェニルメタンジイソシアネート、および３，３′−
    ジメチル−４，４′−ビフェニレン ジイソシアネート
    から成る群より選択されることを特徴とする請求項６記
    載のゴルフボール。
