Abstract
Description
多孔性基材は、ポリエチレン(polyethylene)、ポリプロピレン(polypropylene)、ポリエチレンテレフタレート(polyethylene terephthalate)、ポリブチレンテレフタレート(polybutylene terephthalate)、ポリエステル(polyester)、ポリアセタール(polyacetal)、ポリアミド(polyamide)、ポリカーボネート(polycarbonate)、ポリイミド(polyimide)、ポリエーテルエーテルケトン(polyetheretherketone)、ポリアリールエーテルケトン(polyaryletherketone)、ポリエーテルイミド(polyetherimide)、ポリアミドイミド(polyamideimide)、ポリベンゾイミダゾール(polybenzimidazole)、ポリエーテルスルホン(polyethersulfone)、ポリフェニレンオキシド(polyphenylene oxide)、環状オレフィンコポリマー(cyclic olefin copolymer)、ポリフェニレンスルフィド(polyphenylene sulfide)及びポリエチレンナフタレン(polyethylene naphthalene)からなる群から選択されたいずれか1種の高分子又は2種以上の混合物から形成された高分子膜又はこれらの多重膜、織布又は不織布であってもよいが、これに限られない。
溶媒としては、使用しようとするバインダーと溶解度指数が類似しており、沸点が低いことが好ましい。これは、均一な混合が可能であり、その後に溶媒を容易に除去することができるからである。特に、溶媒は100℃未満の沸点を有する極性溶媒が好ましい。しかし、非極性溶媒の場合は好ましくない。これは、分散力低下のおそれがあるからである。
無機物粒子は電気化学的に安定する限り特に制限されない。すなわち、本発明で使用することができる無機物粒子は、適用される電気化学素子の作動電圧範囲(例えば、Li/Li+基準に0〜約5V)で酸化及び/又は還元反応が起こらないものであれば特に制限されない。特に、イオン伝達能力がある無機物粒子を使う場合、電気化学素子内のイオン伝導度を高めて性能向上を図ることができる。
分散剤はアクリル系共重合体からなる群から選択された1種又は2種以上の混合物であってもよい。この分散剤は無機物の分散性を改善させる優れた分散剤としての機能を発揮する。また、前記分散剤は前記分散剤としての優れた機能とともに接着力を有するバインダーとしての機能を有する。
バインダーはバインダーB及びバインダーAを含み、前記バインダーB及びバインダーAはいずれもビニリデンフルオリド(VDF)誘導単位及びヘキサフルオロプロピレン(HFP)誘導単位を含み、前記HFP誘導単位がバインダーBの8〜50重量%、好ましくは8〜40重量%、より好ましくは8〜30重量%、さらにより好ましくは8〜20重量%、最も好ましくは10〜15重量%を占め、バインダーAではバインダーBで占める比率の80%以下でありながらバインダーAの5重量%以上であり、バインダーBの総数平均分子量は20万〜200万、好ましくは30万〜150万、より好ましくは40万〜120万、最も好ましくは50万〜100万であり、バインダーAの総数平均分子量はバインダーBの70%以下であり、全体コーティング組成物でバインダーA:バインダーBの重量比は0.1〜10:1、好ましくは0.3〜8:1、より好ましくは0.5〜6:1、さらにより好ましくは0.7〜4:1、最も好ましくは0.8〜2:1であるコーティング組成物である。バインダーAの含量が前記範囲より低い場合には相分離する前に乾燥して十分な電極接着力を得ることができなく、バインダーAの含量が高い場合には電極に対する電気抵抗が高いか薄いコーティング厚さである3μmで接着力が急激に落ちる問題がある。
本発明によるコーティング組成物のコーティング方法は、バインダー溶液の形成段階、コーティングスラリー形成段階及び多孔性コーティング層の形成段階からなる。
電気化学素子は電気化学反応する全ての素子を含み、具体的な例として全種類の一次電池、二次電池、燃料電池、太陽電池又はスーパーキャパシタ素子のようなキャパシタ(capacitor)などがある。特に、前記二次電池のうち、リチウム金属二次電池、リチウムイオン二次電池、リチウムポリマー二次電池又はリチウムイオンポリマー二次電池などを含むリチウム二次電池が好ましい。
下記のように本発明の実施例のバインダーと比較例1及び2のバインダー溶液を製造した。
<実施例のバインダー>
バインダーA:PVDF−HFP、分子量40万、HFP含量8%
バインダーB:PVDF−HFP、分子量90万、HFP含量14%
バインダーA及びバインダーBの混合重量比は1:1
<比較例1のバインダー>
実施例のバインダーAのみ使用
<比較例2のバインダー>
実施例のバインダーBのみ使用
<コーティング結果の比較>
バインダーA、バインダーBを1:1重量比で混合してアセトンに添加し、50℃で約4時間溶解させることでバインダー溶液を製造した。無機物として500nmのAl2O3粉末と250nmのAl2O3粉末を9:1重量比で混合して高分子バインダー:総無機物粒子=1:4の重量比になるように前記バインダー溶液に添加した。シアノエチルポリビニルアルコールをPVDF−HFPバインダーの総量の10重量%になるように添加した後、総12時間の間にボールミル法を用いて無機物粒子を破砕及び分散することでスラリーを製造した。ここで、溶媒と固形分の比率は4:1になるようにした。
Claims (13)
- 多数の気孔を有する多孔性基材の少なくとも一面をコーティングするための溶媒、無機物粒子、分散剤及びバインダーを含むコーティング組成物であって、
前記バインダーはバインダーB及びバインダーAを含み、
前記バインダーB及びバインダーAは共にビニリデンフルオリド(VDF)誘導単位及びヘキサフルオロプロピレン(HFP)誘導単位を含み、
前記HFP誘導単位がバインダーBの8〜50重量%を占め、バインダーAではバインダーBで占める比率の80%以下でありながらバインダーAの5重量%以上であり、
バインダーBの総数平均分子量は20万〜200万であり、バインダーAの総数平均分子量はバインダーBの70%以下であり、
全体コーティング組成物でバインダーA:バインダーBの重量比は0.1〜10:1である、コーティング組成物。 - 前記バインダーB及び前記バインダーAは、ビニリデンフルオリド(VDF)とヘキサフルオロプロピレン(HFP)からなる共重合体である、請求項1に記載のコーティング組成物。
- バインダーB及びバインダーA以外に、PVDF−CTFE、PVDF−TFEなどを含むビニリデンフルオリド由来共重合体、ポリメチルメタクリレート(polymethylmethacrylate)、ポリアクリロニトリル(polyacrylonitrile)、ポリビニルピロリドン(polyvinylpyrrolidone)、ポリビニルアセテート(polyvinyl acetate)、ポリエチレン−コ−ビニルアセテート(polyethyleneco−vinyl acetate)、ポリエチレンオキサイド(polyethylene oxide)、セルロースアセテート(cellulose acetate)、セルロースアセテートブチレート(cellulose acetate butyrate)、セルロースアセテートプロピオネート(cellulose acetate propionate)、シアノエチルプルラン(cyanoethyl pullulan)、シアノエチルポリビニルアルコール(cyanoethyl polyvinyl alcohol)、シアノエチルセルロース(cyanoethyl cellulose)、シアノエチルスクロース(cyanoethyl sucrose)、プルラン(pullulan)、カルボキシルメチルセルロース(carboxyl methyl cellulose)、アクリロニトリル−スチレン−ブタジエン共重合体(acrylonitrile−styrene−butadiene copolymer)及びポリイミド(polyimide)をそれぞれ単独で又は2種以上を混合した物質を追加のバインダーとして含む、請求項1に記載のコーティング組成物。
- 前記多孔性基材は、ポリエチレン(polyethylene)、ポリプロピレン(polypropylene)、ポリエチレンテレフタレート(polyethylene terephthalate)、ポリブチレンテレフタレート(polybutylene terephthalate)、ポリエステル(polyester)、ポリアセタール(polyacetal)、ポリアミド(polyamide)、ポリカーボネート(polycarbonate)、ポリイミド(polyimide)、ポリエーテルエーテルケトン(polyetheretherketone)、ポリアリールエーテルケトン(polyaryletherketone)、ポリエーテルイミド(polyetherimide)、ポリアミドイミド(polyamideimide)、ポリベンゾイミダゾール(polybenzimidazole)、ポリエーテルスルホン(polyethersulfone)、ポリフェニレンオキシド(polyphenylene oxide)、環状オレフィンコポリマー(cyclic olefin copolymer)、ポリフェニレンスルフィド(polyphenylene sulfide)及びポリエチレンナフタレン(polyethylene naphthalene)からなる群から選択されたいずれか1種の高分子又は2種以上の混合物から形成された高分子膜又はこれらの多重膜、織布又は不織布である、請求項1に記載のコーティング組成物。
- 前記分散剤がアクリル系共重合体からなる群から選択された1種又は2種以上の混合物である、請求項1に記載のコーティング組成物。
- 前記無機物粒子が、誘電率5以上の無機物粒子、リチウムイオン伝達能力を有する無機物粒子及びこれらの混合物からなる群から選択される、請求項1に記載のコーティング組成物。
- 無機物粒子が大きさの異なる2種以上からなる、請求項1に記載のコーティング組成物。
- 前記バインダーの含量が無機物粒子100重量部を基準に3〜50重量部である、請求項1に記載のコーティング組成物。
- 前記分散剤の含量が無機物粒子100重量部を基準に0.5〜5重量部である、請求項1に記載のコーティング組成物。
- 請求項1〜9のいずれか一項に記載のコーティング組成物でコートされた、分離膜。
- 前記コーティングの厚さは、断面基準に3μm以下である、請求項10に記載の分離膜。
- 陽極、陰極、及び前記陽極と前記陰極の間に介在された請求項10の分離膜を含む、電気化学素子。
- 前記電気化学素子がリチウム二次電池である、請求項12に記載の電気化学素子。
