Abstract
【解決手段】エンジン11の始動後に所定の予熱期間が経過するまで、排出ガスセンサ14のセンサ素子を被水による素子割れが発生しない温度範囲内で予熱するようにヒータ16の通電を制御する予熱制御を実行する。この予熱制御の際に、まず、センサ素子の温度が所定の上限温度(例えば素子割れ防止温度上限値又はそれよりも少し低い温度)に到達したと判定するまでは、ヒータ16の通電デューティを予熱促進用の通電デューティに設定してセンサ素子の温度を速やかに昇温させる。そして、センサ素子の温度が上限温度に到達したと判定した後は、センサ素子の温度を上限温度に維持するようにヒータ16の通電デューティを設定して予熱制御中にセンサ素子全体を十分に昇温させた状態にする。

Description
まず、図1に基づいてエンジン制御システムの概略構成を説明する。
内燃機関であるエンジン11の排気管12(排出ガス通路)には、排出ガス中のCO,HC,NOX 等を浄化する三元触媒等の触媒13が設けられている。この触媒13の上流側と下流側には、それぞれ排出ガスの空燃比又はリッチ/リーン等を検出する排出ガスセンサ14,15(空燃比センサ又は酸素センサ等)が設けられている。各排出ガスセンサ14,15には、それぞれセンサ素子(図示せず)を加熱するヒータ16,17が内蔵されている。
図3に示すヒータ通電制御ルーチンは、ECU18の電源オン期間中に所定周期で繰り返し実行され、特許請求の範囲でいうヒータ通電制御手段としての役割を果たす。
この後、ステップ104に進み、ヒータ16の通電デューティを予熱促進用の通電デューティd1 に設定してセンサ素子の温度を速やかに昇温させる。
Claims (3)
- 内燃機関(11)の排出ガス通路(12)に設けられた排出ガスセンサ(14)のセンサ素子を加熱するヒータ(16)と、前記センサ素子を被水による素子割れが発生しない温度範囲内で予熱するように前記ヒータ(16)の通電を制御する予熱制御を実行するヒータ通電制御手段(18)とを備えた排出ガスセンサのヒータ制御装置において、
前記ヒータ通電制御手段(18)は、前記予熱制御の際に、前記センサ素子の温度が所定の上限温度に到達したと判定するまでは、前記ヒータ(16)の通電制御値を前記センサ素子の温度が前記上限温度に到達したと判定した後の通電制御値よりも大きい予熱促進用の通電制御値に設定し、前記センサ素子の温度が前記上限温度に到達したと判定した後は、前記センサ素子の温度を前記上限温度に維持するように前記ヒータ(16)の通電制御値を設定することを特徴とする排出ガスセンサのヒータ制御装置。 - 前記ヒータ通電制御手段(18)は、前記内燃機関(11)の運転条件と環境条件のうちの少なくとも一方に応じて前記予熱促進用の通電制御値を算出することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の排出ガスセンサのヒータ制御装置。
- 前記ヒータ通電制御手段(18)は、前記センサ素子のインピーダンスと前記ヒータ(16)の抵抗と前記ヒータ(16)の積算電力量のうちの少なくとも一つに基づいて前記センサ素子の温度が前記上限温度に到達したか否かを判定することを特徴とする請求項1又は2に記載の排出ガスセンサのヒータ制御装置。
