ここで、0<a<0.2、0<x<0.9、0<y<0.5、a+x+y<1、0<s<0.03、および0<t<0.03であり、
a、x、およびyはモル比を、sおよびtは重量比を表す。
前駆体が、Ni:Mn:Coのモル比が53:27:20であるように合成され、Li2CO3と混合され、活性材料0.9978Li(Li0.02(Ni0.53Mn0.27Co0.20)0.98)O2 *0.0012LiOH*0.0010Li2CO3が、制御された冷却雰囲気の下で、炉温度940℃で調製された。
活性材料0.9948Li(Li0.02(Ni0.78Mn0.12Co0.10)0.98)O2 *0.0052Li2CO3が、冷却雰囲気を制御することによってカーボネートの量が最大化されたことを除いては、実施例1と同様の方法で調製された。
遷移金属層におけるLiの量がゼロであることを除いては、実施例1と同様の方法で活性材料が調製された。
遷移金属層にLiが存在せず、かつLiと遷移金属との比が1:0.99であったことを除いては、実施例1と同様の方法で活性材料が調製された。
遷移金属層にLiが存在せず、かつLiと遷移金属の比が0.97であったことを除いては、実施例1と同様の方法で活性材料が調製された。
活性材料0.9972Li(Li0.02(Ni0.53Mn0.27Co0.20)0.98)O2 *0.0018LiOH*0.0010Li2CO3が、冷却雰囲気を制御することによりOHの量が増加されたことを除いては、実施例1と同様の方法で調製された。
活性材料0.9972Li(Li0.02(Ni0.53Mn0.27Co0.20)0.98)O2 *0.0008LiOH*0.0020Li2CO3が、冷却雰囲気を制御することによりOHの量が増加されたことを除いては、実施例1と同様の方法で調製された。
活性材料は蒸留水で洗浄され、実施例1において調製された活性材料の塩基を取り除き、130℃で24時間オーブン内で乾燥され、Li(Li0.02(Ni0.53Mn0.27Co0.20)0.98)O2が調製された。
前駆体が、Ni:Mn:Coのモル比が78:12:10であるように合成され、Li2CO3と混合され、活性材料0.9952Li(Li0.02(Ni0.78Mn0.12Co0.10)0.98)O2 *0.0026LiOH*0.0022Li2CO3が、制御された冷却雰囲気の下で、炉温度890℃で調製された。
活性材料0.9948Li(Li0.02(Ni0.78Mn0.12Co0.10)0.98)O2 *0.0052Li2CO3は、実施例4の前駆体とLi2CO3とを比較例1と同様の方法で処理することによって調製された。
遷移金属層中のLiの量がゼロであったことを除いては、実施例4と同様の方法で活性材料が調製された。
遷移金属層にLiが存在せず、かつLiと遷移金属との比が1:0.99であったことを除いては、実施例4と同様の方法で活性材料が調製された。
遷移金属層にLiが存在せず、かつLiと遷移金属の比が1:0.97であったことを除いては、実施例4と同様の方法で活性材料が調製された。
活性材料Li(Li0.02(Ni0.78Mn0.12Co0.10)0.98)O2は、実施例4で調製された活性材料を比較例5と同様の方法で処理することによって調製された。
前駆体が、Ni:Mn:Coのモル比が50:40:10であるように合成され、Li2CO3と混合され、活性材料0.9967Li(Li0.1(Ni0.5Mn0.4Co0.1)0.9)O2 *0.0021LiOH*0.0012Li2CO3が、制御された冷却雰囲気の下で、炉温度950℃で調製された。
活性材料0.9966Li(Li0.1(Ni0.5Mn0.4Co0.1))O2 *0.0034Li2CO3は、実施例5の前駆体とLi2CO3とを比較例1と同様の方法で処理することによって調製された。
活性材料Li(Li0.1(Ni0.5Mn0.4Co0.1))O2は、実施例5で調製された活性材料を比較例5と同様の方法で処理することによって調製された。
実施例1〜5および比較例1〜12で合成された活性材料、導電性材料、およびバインダーは、活性材料:導電性材料:バインダーの比が95:2.5:2.5で混合されてスラリーが調製され、スラリーはAlホイルに塗布された。得られた電極は空隙率23%で圧力を与えられ、円形に打ち抜かれてコインタイプの電池が作製された。このとき、Li金属がアノードに使用され、1MのLiPF6の、EC:DMC:DECの比が1:2:1で混合された溶媒を用いた溶液が電解質として用いられた。作製された電池に対して、以下の表1に示された条件の下で様々な試験が行われた。

- 下記化学式1で表される、層状結晶構造を有する1つ以上の化合物を含み、遷移金属層は遷移金属サイトの全量に基づき20%未満の量でLiを含み、リチウム層に配置されるNiの比、すなわちカチオン混合比は、リチウム層内のリチウムサイトの全量に基づき1%から4.5%であり、層状結晶構造を安定的に支持する、二次電池用のカソード活性材料:
