Abstract
Description
この出願は、2006年12月18日に出願された米国出願連続番号第11/611,946号および2010年4月23日に出願された米国仮出願連続番号第61/327,201号の優先権を主張する一部継続出願であり、その全体がここに引用により援用される。
1.発明の分野
この発明は一般的にセラミック材料に関し、より特定的にはスパークプラグの絶縁体のためのセラミック材料に関する。
スパークプラグは典型的に、内燃機関の燃焼室の中に延在し、発火端とそれに取付けられたフック型の接地電極とを有する円筒形金属シェルを含む。円筒形絶縁体は一部が金属シェル内に配設され、発火端に向けておよび末端にも向けて金属シェルを越えて軸方向に延在する。発火端において、円筒形中心電極が絶縁体内に配設され、接地電極に向けて絶縁体から軸方向に突出し、電極同士の間に火花ギャップが規定される。
発明の1つの局面はスパークプラグの絶縁体のためのセラミック材料を提供し、セラミック材料は、セラミック材料の重量パーセント(重量%)で、98.00重量%から99.50重量%の量の酸化アルミニウム(Al2O3)と、0.16重量%から0.70重量%の量の二族アルカリ土類金属の少なくとも1つの酸化物(二族酸化物)と、0.25重量%から0.75重量%の量の二酸化ケイ素(SiO2)とを備える。セラミックを調製するのに用いられるAl2O3粉末は、1.2μmから1.8μmのD50体積平均粒子径を有する。
図1を参照して、内燃機関中で混合気に点火するための代表的なスパークプラグ20を示す。スパークプラグ20は、セラミック材料の重量パーセント(重量%)で、98.00重量%から99.50重量%の量の酸化アルミニウム(Al2O3)と、0.16重量%から0.70重量%の量の二族アルカリ土類金属の少なくとも1つの酸化物(二族酸化物)と、0.25重量%から0.75重量%の量の二酸化ケイ素(SiO2)とを備えるセラミック材料から形成される絶縁体22を含む。Al2O3は、1.2ミクロン(μm)から1.8μmの体積平均粒子径(D50)を有する。セラミック材料は、Al2O3、少なくとも1つの二族酸化物、およびSiO2を含むセラミック粒子を設け、セラミック粒子を押し固め、セラミック粒子を焼結することによって作製される。
発明の1つの局面はスパークプラグの絶縁体のためのセラミック材料を提供し、セラミック材料は、セラミック材料の重量パーセント(重量%)で、98.00重量%から99.50重量%の量の酸化アルミニウム(Al2O3)と、0.16重量%から0.70重量%の量の二族アルカリ土類金属の少なくとも1つの酸化物(二族酸化物)と、0.01重量%から0.16重量%の量の四族遷移金属の少なくとも1つの酸化物(四族酸化物)と、0.25重量%から0.75重量%の量の二酸化ケイ素(SiO2)とを備える。二族酸化物は、酸化カルシウム(CaO)、酸化マグネシウム(MgO)、酸化ベリリウム(BeO)、酸化ストロンチウム(SrO)、酸化バリウム(BaO)、および酸化ラジウム(RaO)からなる群から選択される。四族酸化物は、酸化ジルコニウム(ZrO 2 )、二酸化チタン(TiO 2 )、酸化ハフニウム(HfO 2 )、および酸化ラザホジウム(RfO 2 )からなる群から選択される。セラミックを調製するのに用いられるAl2O3粉末は、1.2μmから1.8μmのD50体積平均粒子径および2.5μmから6.0μmのD90体積粒子径を有する。
Claims (27)
- スパークプラグの絶縁体のためのセラミック材料であって、前記セラミック材料の重量パーセント(重量%)で、98.00重量%から99.50重量%の量の酸化アルミニウム(Al2O3)と、0.16重量%から0.70重量%の量の二族アルカリ土類金属の少なくとも1つの酸化物(二族酸化物)と、0.25重量%から0.75重量%の量の二酸化ケイ素(SiO2)とを備える、セラミック材料。
- 前記Al2O3は、1.2μmから1.8μmのD50体積平均粒子径を有する粒子から形成される、請求項1に記載のセラミック材料。
- 前記Al2O3は、2.5μmから6.0μmのD90体積粒子径を有する粒子から形成される、請求項1に記載のセラミック材料。
- 前記Al2O3は、2.0m2/gから5.0m2/gの比表面積を有する粒子から形成される、請求項1に記載のセラミック材料。
- 前記少なくとも1つの二族酸化物は、酸化カルシウム(CaO)、酸化マグネシウム(MgO)、酸化ベリリウム(BeO)、酸化ストロンチウム(SrO)、酸化バリウム(BaO)、および酸化ラジウム(RaO)のうち少なくとも1つを含む、請求項1に記載のセラミック材料。
- 0.01重量%から0.15重量%の量のMgOを含む、請求項5に記載のセラミック材料。
- 0.15重量%から0.55重量%の量のCaOを含む、請求項5に記載のセラミック材料。
- 0.01重量%から0.16重量%の量の四族遷移金属の少なくとも1つの酸化物(四族酸化物)を含む、請求項1に記載のセラミック材料。
- 前記少なくとも1つの四族酸化物は、酸化ジルコニウム(ZrO2)、二酸化チタン(TiO2)、酸化ハフニウム(HfO2)、および酸化ラザホジウム(RfO2)のうち少なくとも1つを含む、請求項8に記載のセラミック材料。
- 0.07重量%から0.10重量%の量のZrO2およびTiO2を含む、請求項9に記載のセラミック材料。
- 0.01重量%から0.15重量%の量のZrO2を含む、請求項9に記載のセラミック材料。
- 0.01重量%までの量のTiO2を含む、請求項9に記載のセラミック材料。
- 0.0060重量%未満の量の一族アルカリ金属の少なくとも1つの酸化物(一族酸化物)を含む、請求項1に記載のセラミック材料。
- 前記少なくとも1つの一族酸化物は、酸化カリウム(K2O)、酸化ナトリウム(Na2O)、酸化リチウム(Li2O)、酸化ルビジウム(Rb2O)、酸化セシウム(Cs2O)、および酸化フランシウム(Fr2O)のうち少なくとも1つを含む、請求項13に記載のセラミック材料。
- 0.0060重量%未満の量のK2OおよびNa2Oを含む、請求項14に記載のセラミック材料。
- 0.50重量%から2.0重量%の量のガラス相を含む、請求項1に記載のセラミック材料。
- 前記ガラス相は、前記Al2O3、前記二族酸化物、および前記SiO2の少なくとも一部を含む、請求項16に記載のセラミック材料。
- 前記ガラス相は、前記ガラス相の重量パーセントで、5.0重量%から50.0重量%の量の前記Al2O3、27.0重量%から50.0重量%の量の前記SiO2を含み、前記二族酸化物は、15.0重量%から24.0重量%の量のCaOおよび0.5重量%から7.7重量%の量のMgOを含む、請求項17に記載のセラミック材料。
- 前記Al2O3、前記二族酸化物、および前記SiO2の少なくとも一部を備える二次結晶を含む、請求項1に記載のセラミック材料。
- 前記二次結晶は、ヘキサアルミン酸カルシウム(CaAl12O19)スピネル(MgAl2O4)、灰長石(CaAl2Si2O8)、およびムライト(Al6Si2O13)のうち少なくとも1つを含む、請求項19に記載のセラミック材料。
- 98.85重量%の量の前記Al2O3、0.46重量%の量の前記二族酸化物、および0.60重量%の量の前記SiO2を含む、請求項1に記載のセラミック材料。
- 前記二族酸化物はCaOおよびMgOを含み、前記セラミック材料は、98.85重量%の量の前記Al2O3、0.39重量%の量の前記CaO、0.073重量%の量の前記MgO、0.60重量%の量の前記SiO2、0.004重量%の量のTiO2、0.08重量%の量のZrO2、0.003重量%の量のK2O、0.0007重量%の量のNa2O、および0.0027重量%の量のP2O5を含む、請求項1に記載のセラミック材料。
- 前記二族酸化物はCaOおよびMgOを含み、前記セラミック材料は、98.80重量%の量の前記Al2O3、0.46重量%の量の前記CaO、0.037重量%の量の前記MgO、0.62重量%の量の前記SiO2、0.005重量%の量のTiO2、0.08重量%の量のZrO2、0.004重量%の量のK2O、0.0008重量%の量のNa2O、および0.0031重量%の量のP2O5を含む、請求項1に記載のセラミック材料。
- スパークプラグのためのセラミック材料から形成される絶縁体であって、セラミック材料の重量パーセント(重量%)で、98.00重量%から99.50重量%の量の酸化アルミニウム(Al2O3)と、0.16重量%から0.70重量%の量の二族アルカリ土類金属の少なくとも1つの酸化物(二族酸化物)と、0.25重量%から0.75重量%の量の二酸化ケイ素(SiO2)とを備える、絶縁体。

セラミック材料の重量パーセント重量%で、98.00重量%から99.50重量%の量の、1.2μmから1.8μmの平均粒子径を有する酸化アルミニウム(Al2O3)と、0.16重量%から0.60重量%の量の二族アルカリ土類金属の少なくとも1つの酸化物(二族酸化物)と、0.25重量%から0.75重量%の量の二酸化ケイ素(SiO2)とを含むセラミック粒子を設けるステップと、
セラミック粒子を押し固めるステップと、
セラミック粒子を焼結するステップとを備える、方法。 - スパークプラグのためのセラミック材料から形成される絶縁体を作製する方法であって、
セラミック材料の重量パーセント重量%で、98.00重量%から99.50重量%の量の、1.2μmから1.8μmの平均粒子径を有する酸化アルミニウム(Al2O3)と、0.16重量%から0.60重量%の量の二族アルカリ土類金属の少なくとも1つの酸化物(二族酸化物)と、0.25重量%から0.75重量%の量の二酸化ケイ素(SiO2)とを含むセラミック粒子を設けるステップと、

セラミック粒子を予め定められた形状に成形するステップとを備える、方法。
