Abstract
本特許出願の別の実施形態は、光学活性物品の製造方法に関し、光学活性シートを得る工程と、光学活性シート上に赤外線反射材料を位置づけてパターンを形成する工程と、を含む。この光学活性物品は、例えばライセンスプレートであってもよい。
Description
埋め込まれたセキュリティ機能と、Ensure(商標)Virtual Security Threadを有する「Digital License Plate(DLP)Sheeting Series 9250T」(商品名)の下で3M Company(ミネソタ州)が市販するタイプの裏側にコーティングされた感圧性接着剤とを有する白色反射シートのロールに、米国特許第6,712,532号(Look)、同第6,246,428号(Lookら)、同第5,818,492号(Lookら)、同第5,508,105号(Orensteenら)、及び同第4,847,237号(Vanderzanden)に記載されているデジタルライセンスプレートシステムの熱質量部移動印刷技術を用いて印刷した。印刷パターンは、図1〜3に示すような丘陵背景グラフィック68を形成した。この実施例では、ライセンスプレートには言葉「Tennessee」60がその上部の中心にわたって水平に記されており、この言葉「Tennessee」の上に言葉「The Volunteer State」62が、より小さい文字で記されていた。次いで、印刷されたシートに、3M Companyが市販する「Clear Protective Film 9097」フィルムをラミネートした。
(1)背景グラフィックが森と湖の場面であること、(2)言葉「Explore Minnesota」がライセンスプレートの上部にわたって印刷されていること、及び(3)言葉「10,000 Lakes」がライセンスプレートの下部にわたって印刷されていることを除き、実施例1で説明したようなライセンスプレートを提供した。ライセンスプレートのほぼ中央に、英数字「NSTIG8R」を印刷した。図4は、このライセンスプレートの略図である。
ライセンスプレートは、白色反射シートを印刷しないまま残したことを除き、実施例1で説明したように提供した。しるしを作製し、次の順序でライセンスプレートに縦に中心合わせした。(1)市販の多層IR反射性フィルム「CM 875」から形成した、円形バーコードの第1のしるしをライセンスプレートに配置し、(2)3M Companyが商品化した市販の多層IR反射性フィルム「Solar Reflecting Film」から形成した文字「I」及び「R」の形の第2のしるしをライセンスプレートに配置し、(3)3M Companyが商品化した市販の見た目に透明な感圧性接着テープ「Scotch Magic Tape」から文字「T」の形の第3のしるしを形成し、ライセンスプレートに貼付した。図6は、このライセンスプレートの略図である。
Claims (20)
- 光学活性物品であって、
光学活性基材に隣接して位置づけられた赤外線反射材料を備え、前記赤外線反射材料は、前記光学活性基材が赤外線源によって照射されたときに赤外線センサーによって読取ることが可能なパターンを形成する、光学活性物品。 - 前記光学活性基材が再帰反射性又は反射性である、請求項1に記載の光学活性物品。
- 前記再帰反射性の基材がプリズムシート又はビードシートを含む、請求項2に記載の光学活性物品。
- 前記赤外線反射材料が多層光学フィルムである、請求項1に記載の光学活性物品。
- 前記赤外線反射材料が可視光に対して透明である、請求項1に記載の光学活性物品。
- 前記光学活性基材が可視光に対して実質的に透明である、請求項1に記載の光学活性物品。
- 可視光スペクトルで前記光学活性基材を通して可視である下層パターンを更に備える、請求項1に記載の光学活性物品。
- 前記パターンが、機械読取り可能な情報、グラフィック、画像、英数字、バーコード、又は他のしるしの少なくとも1つを含む、請求項1に記載の光学活性物品。
- 前記ライセンスプレートを見る角度によって前記パターンの可視性が異なる、請求項1に記載の光学活性物品。
- 前記物品が、ライセンスプレート、検証ステッカー、使用許可証、識別ラベル、又はタグから基本的になる群から選択される標識である、請求項1に記載の光学活性物品。
- 再帰反射物品の製造方法であって、
再帰反射シートを得る工程と、
パターンを形成するために前記再帰反射シート上に赤外線反射材料を位置づける工程と、を含む、方法。 - 前記物品が、ライセンスプレート、検証ステッカー、使用許可証、識別ラベル、又はタグである、請求項11に記載の方法。
- 前記再帰反射シートをライセンスプレートベースに貼付する工程を更に含む、請求項11に記載の方法。
- 赤外線センサーによって前記パターンを読取ることを促進するために前記再帰反射シートを赤外線源で照射する工程を更に含む、請求項11に記載の方法。
- 前記再帰反射シートがプリズムシート又はビードシートのうちの1つである、請求項11に記載の方法。
- 前記赤外線反射材料が多層光学フィルムである、請求項11に記載の方法。
- 前記赤外線反射材料が可視光に対して実質的に透明である、請求項11に記載の方法。
- 前記パターンが、機械読取り可能な情報、グラフィック、画像、英数字、バーコード、又は他のしるしの少なくとも1つを含む、請求項11に記載の方法。
- 再帰反射物品であって、
再帰反射シートの少なくとも一部分を覆っている多層光学フィルムを備え、
前記多層光学フィルムは、第1のスペクトル域内の光に対して比較的高い反射率を呈し、第2のスペクトル域内の光に対して比較的低い反射率を呈する、再帰反射物品。 - 前記第1のスペクトル域が約700nm〜約1100nmであり、前記第2のスペクトル域が約400nm〜約700nmである、請求項19に記載の再帰反射物品。
