【解決手段】 第1方向に沿ってそれぞれ延出した第1ソース配線及び第2ソース配線と、前記第1ソース配線と前記第2ソース配線との間に位置し第1方向に沿って延出した主画素電極と、前記第1ソース配線及び前記第2ソース配線のそれぞれとの間に絶縁膜を介して対向し第1方向に沿って延出した第1主共通電極と、を備えた第1基板と、前記第1主共通電極と対向し第1方向に沿って延出するとともに前記第1主共通電極と電気的に接続された第2主共通電極を備えた第2基板と、前記第1基板と前記第2基板との間に保持された液晶分子を含む液晶層と、を備えたことを特徴とする液晶表示装置。

Description
第1方向に沿ってそれぞれ延出した第1ソース配線及び第2ソース配線と、前記第1ソース配線と前記第2ソース配線との間に位置し第1方向に沿って延出した主画素電極と、前記第1ソース配線及び前記第2ソース配線のそれぞれとの間に絶縁膜を介して対向し第1方向に沿って延出した第1主共通電極と、を備えた第1基板と、前記第1主共通電極と対向し第1方向に沿って延出するとともに前記第1主共通電極と電気的に接続された第2主共通電極を備えた第2基板と、前記第1基板と前記第2基板との間に保持された液晶分子を含む液晶層と、を備えたことを特徴とする液晶表示装置が提供される。
まず、比較例として、ソース配線に対向する第1主共通電極を設けなかった以外は本実施形態と同一の構成について、クロストーク率を測定した。次に、本実施形態の実施例1として、ソース配線に対向するとともにソース配線の幅に対して60%の幅を有する第1主共通電極を設けた構成(ソース配線の被覆率60%)、及び、本実施形態の実施例2として、ソース配線に対向するとともにソース配線の幅に対して100%の幅を有する(すなわち、ソース配線と同等の幅を有する)第1主共通電極を設けた構成(ソース配線の被覆率100%)のそれぞれについてクロストーク率を測定した。

Claims (6)
- 第1方向に沿ってそれぞれ延出した第1ソース配線及び第2ソース配線と、前記第1ソース配線と前記第2ソース配線との間に位置し第1方向に沿って延出した主画素電極と、前記第1ソース配線及び前記第2ソース配線のそれぞれとの間に絶縁膜を介して対向し第1方向に沿って延出した第1主共通電極と、を備えた第1基板と、
前記第1主共通電極と対向し第1方向に沿って延出するとともに前記第1主共通電極と電気的に接続された第2主共通電極を備えた第2基板と、
前記第1基板と前記第2基板との間に保持された液晶分子を含む液晶層と、
を備えたことを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 前記第1主共通電極のそれぞれは、前記第1ソース配線及び前記第2ソース配線の直上に配置され且つ前記第1ソース配線及び前記第2ソース配線と略同等の幅を有することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記主画素電極は、前記絶縁膜上に形成され、前記第1主共通電極のそれぞれと同一材料によって形成されたことを特徴とする請求項1または2に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 第1方向に直交する第2方向に沿った前記第1ソース配線と前記主画素電極との間隔は前記第2ソース配線と前記主画素電極との間隔と略同等であることを特徴とする請求項1乃至3のいずれか1項に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記主画素電極と前記第1主共通電極及び前記第2主共通電極との間に電界が形成されていない状態で、前記液晶分子の初期配向方向は、第1方向に略平行な方向、もしくは、第1方向を斜めに交差する方向であることを特徴とする請求項1乃至4のいずれか1項に記載の液晶表示装置。
- さらに、前記第1基板に備えられ前記主画素電極及び前記第1主共通電極を覆う第1配向膜と、前記第2基板に備えられ前記第2主共通電極を覆う第2配向膜と、を備え、
前記第1配向膜が前記液晶分子を初期配向させる第1配向処理方向及び前記第2配向膜が前記液晶分子を初期配向させる第2配向処理方向は、第1方向に略平行な方向、もしくは、第1方向を斜めに交差する方向であることを特徴とする請求項1乃至5のいずれか1項に記載の液晶表示装置。
