Claims (6)
- 基板上で面状に設けられた第一電極と、
絶縁膜を挟み、前記第一電極に互いに略平行をなして配列され、前記第一電極との間にフリンジ電界を形成する複数の第二電極と、
前記基板と対向する対向基板に前記第一、第二電極と対面して面状に設けられた第三電極と、
前記第一、第二電極と、前記第三電極との間に配向層を介して設けられた負の誘電率異方性を有する液晶と、
前記第一電極と、前記第三電極との間に、双方の電極の電位が周期的に逆方向に変化して、交番電界を形成する電界制御手段とを備えたことを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 前記液晶は前記配向層により液晶分子が配列しており、前記液晶分子のチルト角は基板面に対して、1〜10°であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 請求項1又は2に記載の液晶表示装置を製造する方法であって、
前記配向層はポリイミドからなり、該配向層をラビング法による配向処理により形成することを特徴とする液晶表示装置の製造方法。 - 請求項1又は2に記載の液晶表示装置を製造する方法であって、
前記配向層を光照射による配向処理により形成することを特徴とする液晶表示装置の製造方法。 - 請求項1又は2に記載の液晶表示装置を製造する方法であって、
前記配向層をイオンビームの照射による配向処理により形成することを特徴とする液晶表示装置の製造方法。 - 前記配向層により液晶分子の配向状態がアンチパラレル配向であることを特徴とする請求項3乃至5に記載の液晶表示装置の製造方法。
