この出願は、米国特許法119条(e)の規定の下に、2004年6月23日に出願された米国仮出願番号第60/582,390号明細書の優先権を主張する。
ここで説明した装置の実施形態は、de Meulenaerらの特許文献16および17に見出すことができる。電着プロセスで利用される流体を処理する方法は、ここで開示された装置により実施することができる。電着流体を処理するのに使うことのできる装置の一つの特定の実施形態を、図1に表す。ある特定の実施形態において、処理される電着流体は、例えば細菌、ウイルス、真菌類、原生生物などを含む微生物を含みうる。

固体を含む電着流体を保つ個室と、
前記個室と連通している電着浴と、
前記個室の中に100kHzより高い周波数の超音波を発するように構成された超音波

前記電着流体を個室に送る段階と、
個室内の前記電着流体を、ガス微小泡、および100kHzまたはそれより高い周波数
の超音波に同時にさらす段階と
を有し、
前記電着流体を前記ガス微小泡及び前記超音波にさらすことによって、電着プロセスに
使われるとき、前記電着流体の望ましい特性を変更しない、又は前記電着流体の有効性を
妨げないことを特徴とする方法。 - 前記ガス微小泡は空気微小泡及び酸素微小泡からなる一群から選択されることを特徴と
する請求項9に記載の方法。 - 前記微小泡の直径は約50μmより小さいことを特徴とする請求項9に記載の方法。
- 前記電着流体を電磁放射にさらす段階をさらに有することを特徴とする請求項9に記載
の方法。 - 電着浴を備える電着システムと、
前記電着浴に接続された電着流体回路と、
固体を含む多成分の水溶性のエマルジョン又は分散物を備える不透明な電着流体を保つ
ように構成され、前記電着流体が送られる個室と、
前記個室の中に100kHzより高い周波数の超音波を発するように構成された超音波
発生体と、
電着流体を保つように構成された個室内の超音波場中に、1mmより小さな平均直径を
持ったガス微小泡を発するように構成されたガス微小泡発生体と、
を有し、
前記電着流体を前記ガス微小泡及び前記超音波にさらすことによって、電着プロセスに
使われるとき、前記電着流体の望ましい特性を変更しない、又は前記電着流体の有効性を
妨げないことを特徴とする装置。 - 前記ガス微小泡はオゾン微小泡ではないことを特徴とする請求項13に記載の装置。
- 前記ガス微小泡は、空気、および酸素の微小泡から成るグループから選択されることを
特徴とする請求項13に記載の装置。 - 前記ガス微小泡の平均直径は約50μmより小さいことを特徴とする請求項13に記載
の装置。 - 前記ガス微小泡の平均直径は約30μmより小さいことを特徴とする請求項13に記載
の装置。 - 前記個室中に発せられた超音波は停滞場現象を生成しないことを特徴とする請求項13
に記載の装置。 - 超音波場に可視光域の電磁放射を放出するように構成された電磁放射発光体をさらに有
することを特徴とする請求項13に記載の装置。 - 前記電着流体が、電着ラッカーを含むことを特徴とする請求項13に記載の装置。
- 前記固体が、重量比で前記電着流体の20%であることを特徴とする請求項13に記載
の装置。 - 前記電着流体が不透明であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の装置。
- 前記固体が、帯電された固体であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の装置。
- 前記固体が、重量比で前記電着流体の20%であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の
装置。 - 前記電着流体が不透明であることを特徴とする請求項9に記載の装置。
- 前記固体が、帯電された固体であることを特徴とする請求項9に記載の装置。
- 前記固体が、重量比で前記電着流体の20%であることを特徴とする請求項9に記載の
装置。 - 前記電着流体が、10%〜20%のコーティング固体を含む請求項1に記載の装置。
