Abstract
Description
本出願は、米国特許出願、名称「エピクロロヒドリン組成物を含む常温収縮物品(COLD-SHRINK ARTICLE INCLUDING AN EPICHLOROHYDRIN COMPOSITION)」(代理人整理番号第63119US002、これと共に同日付にて出願されたもの、その開示が全体として本明細書に参考として組み込まれる)に関連する。
本発明は概して、様々な用途に使用される常温収縮物品に関する。特に、本発明は、エピクロロヒドリン組成物を含む組成物から形成された常温収縮物品に関する。
様々な分析手法が、本発明の常温収縮物品の性質を特徴づけるために使用され得る。これらの分析手法を以下に詳細に記載する。本明細書で使用するとき、「ASTM D412」は、2003年1月に公開され、ペンシルバニア州ウエストコンショホッケンの米国材料試験協会インターナショナルから入手可能な「加硫ゴム及び熱可塑性エラストマーの張力のための標準試験方法(Standard Test Methods for Vulcanized Rubber and Thermoplastic Elastomers Tension)」という題名の、ASTM D412−98a(2002年に再認可)を指す。
A.破断点伸び及び破断応力
本発明のエラストマー組成物から形成されるダンベルのための、破断応力及び破断点伸び率の測定が、オハイオ州クヤホガフォールズ(Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio)のテック・プロ(Tech Pro)から市販されているtensiTECH III引張試験機を使用して、ASTM D412の試験方法Aの手順に従って実行される。
IDの実際の破断点伸び=((伸張された外周−初めの外周)/(初めの外周))×100。
永久歪率の試験は、物品が示す弾性回復量を示す。永久歪率は、以下の式を使用して計算される。
管の割裂試験は、常温収縮物品の経時的な引き裂き特性を示すために行われる。この試験は、上記の方法に従って本発明のエラストマー組成物から調製される管サンプルを使用して行われる。約7.6〜10.2cm(3〜4インチ)の長さを有する管のサンプルが切断され、管サンプルの内径の約3倍の直径を有する鋼マンドレル全体を覆って設置される。そのようなものであるから、管サンプルは半径方向に約200%膨張する。半径方向に約200%膨張した状態を保持しつつ、サンプルを150℃のオーブン内に7日間置く。7日間終了後、細長いサンプルにおいて、引き裂きの跡を目視検査する。引き裂き又は割裂が人間の裸眼によって目視観察される場合、管サンプルは、割裂試験に失敗したと見なされる。
本発明の常温収縮物品の流体抵抗は、本発明の組成物から形成される板から(ASTM D412の試験方法Aの方法に従って)ダンベル状試験片を切断することによって測定される。試験片は、個々に重さを測定され、その後、広い試験管内の油圧油又はディーゼル燃料のどちらかに浸漬される。ディーゼル燃料を含む試験管は、約49℃の温度に維持される油槽に24時間入れられ、油圧油が入った試験管は、約71℃の温度に維持される油槽に24時間入れられた。その後、試験片は試験管から取り出されて、濾紙で押さえて水気を切り(padded dry)、個々に重さを量る。その後、試験片に対するディーゼル燃料及び油圧油それぞれの吸収率は、初めの重量及びダンベル状試験片の最終の重量を使用して計算される。
表示の視認性は、以下の手順に従って常温収縮物品について定性的に測定される。表示のない管は1.0mmの外径を有し、2.0cmの直径を有するコア上へ膨張される。その後、膨張された管は、Nd:YAGレーザシステムによって表示を形成するためにレーザマーキングされる。Nd:YAGレーザシステムは、カナダ、オンタリオ、カナタのGSIルモニクス社(GSI Lumonics,Inc.)から「Hi−Mark」No.400の商品名で市販されている。Nd:YAGレーザシステムのレーザ設定は、64.8ワットの電力設定、5.1cm/分のマーキング速度、及び1秒間に6つの波ピークの周波数を有する。管の外側表面に向かうレーザシステムヘッドの設定された距離は18.3cm(7.2インチ)である。この表示は、管が膨張状態の際に、表示が約2.0mmの管の周りの周方向に書体高さを示すよう、マーキングされる。
Claims (8)
- エピクロロヒドリン組成物を含み、かつフルオロエラストマー組成物を実質的に含まないエラストマー組成物と;
強化等級カーボンブラック及びシリカを含む充填剤材料と;
過酸化物硬化剤と、を含む組成物。 - 前記シリカが、シラン処理済ヒュームドシリカを含む、請求項1に記載の組成物。
- (a)エピクロロヒドリン組成物を含み、かつフルオロエラストマー組成物を実質的に含まない、エラストマー組成物を提供する工程と;
(b)強化等級カーボンブラックを含む充填剤材料を提供する工程と;
(c)過酸化物硬化剤を提供する工程と;
(d)前記エラストマー組成物、前記充填剤材料、及び前記過酸化物硬化剤を混合して、ブレンド組成物を形成する工程と、
(e)前記ブレンド組成物を硬化させて、管状常温収縮性材料を形成する工程と;
(f)管状常温収縮性材料の内側に取り外し可能コアを組み込んで、前記常温収縮性材料を膨張状態に支持する(support)工程と、を含む使用方法。 - 前記充填剤材料の量が、約10phr〜約25phrの範囲内であるとともに、前記過酸化物硬化剤の量が、約0.5phr〜約4.0phrの範囲内である、請求項1に記載の組成物、又は請求項3に記載の方法。
- 前記強化等級カーボンブラックが、約40nm未満の平均粒径を有するカーボンブラックを含む、請求項1に記載の組成物、又は請求項3に記載の方法。
- 前記充填剤材料が、シリカを更に含む、請求項3に記載の方法。
- 前記組成物が、架橋剤又は架橋助剤を更に含む、請求項1に記載の組成物、又は請求項3に記載の方法。
- 前記組成物が、室温で約550%超の伸び及び約25%未満の永久歪を示す、請求項1に記載の組成物、又は請求項3に記載の方法。
