Claims (16)

  1. (a)複数の隔室と、
    (b)同複数の隔室に配置された複数の撹拌器と、
    (c)同複数の隔室を分離しており、各々1つ以上の底流開口部を有する複数の仕切部材と、を備えるオートクレーブであって
    フィードストリームは第1の隔室へ導入され、隔室から隔室へと連続して流れて、最終の隔室から除去されることと、1組の隣接した隔室間ではフィードストリームのうち75%以上が流れることと、前記1つ以上の底流開口部は、オートクレーブの下部から上方に、前記隣接した隔室のうち上流にある隔室における液レベルの高さの20%以下の高さに配置されていることと、を含むオートクレーブ
  2. 前記複数の仕切部材の各々の高さは、フィードストリームがそれらの仕切部材を溢流しないように、前記隣接した隔室のうち上流の隔室のフィードストリームレベルより大きく、前記複数の仕切部材の各々の高さ−直径比は0.80以上である請求項1に記載のオートクレーブ。
  3. 前記複数の仕切部材の各々において、前記1つ以上の底流開口部の総断面積は0.06m 〜1.50mの範囲であり、前記隣接した隔室間の流量は200m/h〜800m/hの範囲である請求項1または2に記載のオートクレーブ。
  4. 前記複数の仕切部材の各々における前記1つ以上の底流開口部の総断面積は異なっており、前記オートクレーブの投入端部にある第1の仕切部材の1つ以上の底流開口部の総断面積は、前記オートクレーブの排出端部に第1の仕切部材より近い第2の仕切部材の1つ以上の底流開口部の総断面積より小さい請求項1乃至のいずれか一項に記載のオートクレーブ。
  5. 前記複数の仕切部材の各々において、前記1つ以上の底流開口部は、前記隣接した隔室のうち上流の隔室の撹拌器の最も上のインペラ翼のまたはそれより下の位置に配置されており、かつ同じ断面積を有し、前記隣接した隔室間の落差は25mm〜100mmの範囲に維持されている請求項1乃至3のいずれか一項に記載のオートクレーブ。
  6. 前記複数の仕切部材の各々において、前記1つ以上の底流開口部は、オートクレーブの下部から上方に、前記隣接した隔室のうち上流の隔室における液レベルの66%以下の高さに配置されており、1つの仕切部材における、前記1つ以上の底流開口部を通じるフィードストリームの流速に対する同1つ以上の底流開口部の総断面積の比は、1〜7の範囲である、請求項1乃至5のいずれか一項に記載のオートクレーブ。
  7. 複数の組の隣接した隔室において撹拌器は反対に回転することと、第1の隔室の液レベルは隣接した第2の隔室の液レベルよりも5mm〜150mmだけ高いことと、を含む請求項1乃至6のいずれか一項に記載のオートクレーブ。
  8. 第1の隔室では、第1の撹拌器は右回りに回転し、第1の隔室を隣接した第2の隔室から分離している第1の仕切部材における1つ以上の底流開口部は、オートクレーブの長手方向軸の右側に配置されており、第2の隔室では、第2の撹拌器は左回りに回転し、第2の隔室を隣接した第3の隔室から分離している第2の仕切部材における1つ以上の底流開口部は、オートクレーブの長手方向軸の左側に配置されており、オートクレーブの最終の仕切部材は1つ以上の底流開口部を備えない溢流仕切部材として構成されている請求項に記載のオートクレーブ。
  9. オートクレーブにおいてフィードストリームを処理する方法であって、
    (a)複数の隔室と、同複数の隔室に配置された複数の撹拌器と、同複数の隔室を分離しており、各々1つ以上の底流開口部を有する複数の仕切部材とを備えたオートクレーブへフィードストリームを導入する工程と、前記1つ以上の底流開口部は、前記オートクレーブの下部から上方に、隣接した隔室のうち上流にある隔室における液レベルの高さの20%以下の高さに配置されていることと、
    (b)前記オートクレーブへ分子酸素含有ガスを導入する工程と、
    (c)隣接した隔室を分離している仕切部材における前記1つ以上の底流開口部を通じて、同隣接した隔室間に少なくともフィードストリームの大半を流す工程と、を含む方法。
  10. フィードストリームは、卑金属、白金族金属、および貴金属のうちの1つ以上を含む金属硫化物含有材料であり、複数の仕切部材の各々の高さは、フィードストリームがそれらの仕切部材を溢流しないように、前記隣接した隔室のうち上流の隔室のフィードストリームレベルより大きく、前記複数の仕切部材の各々の高さ−直径比は0.80以上である請求項9に記載の方法。
  11. 前記複数の仕切部材の各々において、前記1つ以上の底流開口部の総断面積は0.06〜1.50mの範囲であり、前記隣接した隔室間の流量は200〜800m/hの範囲であり、前記仕切部材の各々における前記1つ以上の底流開口部の総断面積は同じである請求項9または10に記載の方法。
  12. 前記複数の仕切部材の各々における前記1つ以上の底流開口部の総断面積は異なっており、前記オートクレーブの投入端部にある第1の仕切部材の1つ以上の底流開口部の総断面積は、前記オートクレーブの排出端部に第1の仕切部材より近い第2の仕切部材の1つ以上の底流開口部の総断面積より小さい請求項11に記載の方法。
  13. 前記複数の仕切部材の各々において、前記1つ以上の底流開口部は、前記隣接した隔室のうち上流の隔室の撹拌器の最も上のインペラ翼のまたはそれより下の位置に配置されており、かつ同じ断面積を有し、前記隣接した隔室間の落差は5mm〜50mmの範囲に維持されており、1つの仕切部材における、前記1つ以上の底流開口部を通じるフィードストリームの流速に対する同1つ以上の底流開口部の総断面積の比は、1〜7の範囲である
    請求項9または10に記載の方法。
  14. フィードストリームは金属硫化物含有材料であり、
    工程(b)の後に、(b1)フィードストリーム中の金属硫化物含有材料を酸化させ、酸化金属含有材料を含む生成スラリーを提供する工程と、
    工程(c)の後に、生成スラリーから金属を回収する工程と、を含む請求項9乃至13のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
  15. 複数の組の隣接した隔室において撹拌器は反対に回転することと、第1の隔室の液レベルは隣接した第2の隔室の液レベルよりも5mm〜150mmだけ高いことと、を含む請求項9乃至14のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
  16. 第1の隔室では、第1の撹拌器は右回りに回転し、第1の隔室を隣接した第2の隔室から分離している第1の仕切部材における1つ以上の底流開口部は、オートクレーブの長手方向中心線の右側に配置されており、第2の隔室では、第2の撹拌器は左回りに回転し、第2の隔室を隣接した第3の隔室から分離している第2の仕切部材における1つ以上の底流開口部は、オートクレーブの長手方向中心線の左側に配置されており、オートクレーブの最終の仕切部材は1つ以上の底流開口部を備えない溢流仕切部材として構成されている請求項9乃至15のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
