- 40.0−40.6(IT)と定義される量よりも大きい、軸方向での25から800℃の平均CTE(10-7/℃)をさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項1記載の多孔質コージエライトセラミックハニカム物品。
- 多孔質コージエライトセラミックハニカム物品を製造する方法であって、
タルク、アルミナ形成源、シリカ形成源、および0〜18質量%のカオリンまたはか焼カオリンを含有する無機原料であって、7μm未満のメジアン粒径を有する細粒カオリン源は8質量%以下しか含まれず、該細粒カオリン源が8質量%より多く含まれる場合は、焼成中に遅い上昇速度が用いられる無機原料を、加工助剤および随意的な細孔形成剤と混合して、可塑化混合物を形成する工程、
前記可塑化混合物をハニカム構造に形成する工程、および
前記ハニカム構造を焼成して、54%未満の気孔率を有する多孔質コージエライトセラミックハニカム物品を形成する工程であって、8質量%より多く細粒カオリン源が用いられる場合には、前記遅い上昇速度が、20℃/時以下の1200から1300℃までの平均加熱速度を含む工程、
を有してなる方法。 - 前記タルクが38〜42質量%で存在し、
前記アルミナ形成源が、34〜38質量%で存在し、少なくとも5μmの質量平均メジアン粒径を有し、
前記シリカ形成源が、10〜24質量%で存在し、少なくとも10μmのメジアン粒径を有する、
ことを特徴とする請求項29記載の方法。 - 7μm未満のメジアン粒径を有する前記細粒カオリン源が4質量%以下しか含まれないことを特徴とする請求項29記載の方法。
- 7μm未満のメジアン粒径を有する前記細粒カオリン源が2質量%以下しか含まれないことを特徴とする請求項29記載の方法。
- 前記無機原料にカオリンが含まれないことを特徴とする請求項29記載の方法。
- 前記シリカ形成源が少なくとも20μmのメジアン粒径を有することを特徴とする請求項29記載の方法。
- 前記アルミナ形成源が少なくとも6μmの質量平均メジアン粒径を有することを特徴とする請求項29記載の方法。
- 前記アルミナ形成源が、一部には、前記無機原料の10質量%以下を占める1μm未満のメジアン粒径を有する高分散性粉末を含むことを特徴とする請求項29記載の方法。
- 前記タルクが、0.6と1.0の間のXRDタルクモルホロジー指数を含むことを特徴とする請求項29記載の方法。
- 前記タルクが、少なくとも0.85のXRDタルクモルホロジー指数を含むことを特徴とする請求項37記載の方法。
- 前記多孔質コージエライトセラミックハニカム物品が少なくとも1つの方向でCTE≦8×10-7/℃(25〜800℃)を有することを特徴とする請求項29記載の方法。
- CTEが少なくとも1つの方向で5×10-7/℃(25〜800℃)以下であることを特徴とする請求項39記載の方法。
- 前記多孔質コージエライトセラミックハニカム物品が、
MA<2000、または
MT>2900、
をさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項29記載の方法。 - 前記多孔質コージエライトセラミックハニカム物品が、d90≦33μmを含むことを特徴とする請求項29記載の方法。
- 前記アルミナ形成源が、コランダム、遷移アルミナ、ガンマアルミナ、ローアルミナ、ベーマイト、ダイアスポア、およびギブサイトからなる群より選択されることを特徴とする請求項29記載の方法。
