Abstract
【解決手段】中空直方体形状の電池缶11の内部に、正極21と負極22とをセパレータ23を介して積層し、渦巻き状に巻いた巻回構造を有する偏平な電池素子20が収納されている。電池素子20と電池缶11との間の隙間に、導電性の短絡部材30が設けられている。外部からの力で押し潰されて電池缶11が変形した場合に、切れ目31が電池素子20に食い込み、突き刺さることにより正極21と負極22とを確実に短絡させる。短絡部材30は管状でもよいし板状でもよい。

Description
図1および図2は本発明の第1の実施の形態に係る二次電池の断面構造を表すものである。この二次電池は、いわゆる角型といわれるものであり、ほぼ中空直方体形状の電池缶11の内部に、偏平な電池素子20を有している。
図8は、本発明の第2の実施の形態に係る二次電池の断面構成を表したものである。この二次電池は、短絡部材30が板状であることを除いては、第1の実施の形態と同様の構成を有している。よって、第1の実施の形態と同一の構成要素には同一の符号を付して説明する。
図9および図10は、第2の実施の形態の変形例1に係る二次電池の断面構成を表したものである。この二次電池は、中空楕円形の電池缶41に、楕円筒状の巻回構造を有する電池素子20を収容した、いわゆる楕円型電池であることを除いては、上記第2の実施の形態と同様の構成を有している。
図11は、第2の実施の形態の変形例2に係る二次電池の断面構成を表したものである。この二次電池は、中空円筒状の電池缶41に円筒状の巻回構造を有する電池素子20を収容した、いわゆる円筒型電池であることを除いては、変形例1と同様の構成を有し、同様にして製造することができる。また、その作用および効果も変形例1と同様である。
図12は、本発明の第3の実施の形態に係る二次電池の短絡部材30の構成を表すものである。この二次電池は、短絡部材30に、屈曲した形状の切込み33を設けたことを除き、他は第1の実施の形態と同様の構成を有している。よって、第1の実施の形態と同一の構成要素には同一の符号を付して説明する。
なお、本実施の形態では、切込み33が規則的な間隔で配置されている場合について説明したが、切込み33は不規則な間隔で配置されていてもよい。また、本実施の形態では、直線部分33Aは短絡部材30の長手方向に平行であり、直線部分33Bは直線部分33Aに垂直である場合について説明したが、図15に示したように、直線部分33A,33Bが短絡部材30の長手方向に対して斜めに配置されていてもよい。
第1および第3の実施の形態で説明した二次電池を作製した。まず、炭酸リチウム(Li2 CO3 )と炭酸コバルト(CoCO3 )とを、Li2 CO3 :CoCO3 =0.5:1(モル比)の割合で混合し、空気中において900℃で5時間焼成して、正極活物質としてのリチウム・コバルト複合酸化物(LiCoO2 )を得た。次いで、このリチウム・コバルト複合酸化物91質量部と、導電剤であるグラファイト6質量部と、結着剤であるポリフッ化ビニリデン3質量部とを混合して正極合剤を調整した。続いて、この正極合剤を溶剤であるN−メチル−2−ピロリドンに分散させて正極合剤スラリーとし、厚み20μmのアルミニウム箔よりなる正極集電体21Aの両面に均一に塗布して乾燥させ、ロールプレス機で圧縮成型して正極活物質層21Bを形成し正極21を作製した。続いて、正極集電体21Aの一端にアルミニウム製の正極リード24を取り付けた。
第2の実施の形態で説明した二次電池を作製した。すなわち、短絡部材30として、ステンレス鋼よりなる薄い帯状の板を、電池缶11の内壁に沿って配置したことを除いては、実施例1と同様にして二次電池を作製した。
変形例2に示したような円筒型の電池缶41に円筒状の巻回構造を有する電池素子20を収容した、いわゆる円筒型としたことを除いては、実施例3と同様にして二次電池を作製した。すなわち、まず、実施例1と同様にして電池素子20を作製した。次いで、ステンレス鋼よりなる薄い帯状の板を用意し、この板を丸めて筒状に成形することにより、管状のセンターピン50を形成し、このセンターピン50を電池素子20の巻回中心に挿入した。
短絡部材30に図26,27に示したようなL型の切込み33を設けたことを除いては、実施例5は実施例3と同様に、実施例6は実施例4と同様にして二次電池を作製した。
短絡部材30を電池素子20の外周に沿って配置したことを除いては、実施例7は実施例3と同様に、実施例8は実施例4と同様にして二次電池を作製した。
短絡部材30に図27に示したようなL型の切込み33を設けたことを除いては、実施例9は実施例7と同様に、実施例10は実施例8と同様にして二次電池を作製した。
短絡部材30に図29に示したようなZ型の切込み33および直線状の切欠部35を設けたことを除いては、実施例11は実施例7と同様に、実施例12は実施例8と同様にして二次電池を作製した。
短絡部材30に図31に示したようなZ型の切込み33と、Z型の切欠部35を設けたことを除いては、実施例13は実施例7と同様に、実施例14は実施例8と同様にして二次電池を作製した。
Claims (11)
- 正極および負極を有する電池素子と、
前記電池素子を収容する電池缶と、
前記電池素子と前記電池缶との間の隙間に設けられ、前記電池缶の変形時に前記電池素子に突き刺さることが可能な導電性の短絡部材と
を備えたことを特徴とする電池。 - 前記短絡部材は管状であると共にその長手方向に切れ目を有する
ことを特徴とする請求項1記載の電池。 - 前記短絡部材は板状である
ことを特徴とする請求項1記載の電池。 - 前記短絡部材は、屈曲した形状の切込みを有する
ことを特徴とする請求項1記載の電池。 - 前記切込みは、二本以上の直線部分により構成され、前記二本以上の直線部分のうちの一本は他の一本の端部から前記一本と異なる方向に延びている
ことを特徴とする請求項4記載の電池。 - 前記電池素子は、帯状の正極集電体の面上に正極活物質層を有する前記正極と、帯状の負極集電体の面上に負極活物質層を有する前記負極とをセパレータを間にして積層し、巻回した構成を有する
ことを特徴とする請求項1記載の電池。 - 前記正極は、前記正極集電体の巻回外周側の端部に、両面に前記正極活物質層が存在しない正極露出領域を有し、前記負極は、前記負極集電体の巻回外周側の端部に、両面に前記負極活物質層が存在しない負極露出領域を有する
ことを特徴とする請求項6記載の電池。 - 前記電池素子の巻回中心に、管状のセンターピンを有する
ことを特徴とする請求項6記載の電池。 - 前記負極は、電極反応物質を吸蔵および放出することが可能であり、構成元素として金属元素および半金属元素のうちの少なくとも1種を含む負極活物質を含むことを特徴とする請求項1記載の電池。
- 前記負極は、前記負極活物質として、スズ(Sn)およびケイ素(Si)のうちの少なくとも一方を構成元素として含む材料を含むことを特徴とする請求項9記載の電池。
- 前記負極は、前記負極活物質として、スズと、コバルト(Co)と、炭素(C)とを構成元素として含み、炭素の含有量が9.9質量%以上29.7質量%以下であり、かつスズとコバルトとの合計に対するコバルトの割合が30質量%以上70質量%以下であるCoSnC含有材料を含むことを特徴とする請求項9記載の電池。
