Description
さらに、負極活物質層の巻回中心側端部が、巻回体の短軸方向において正極リードと重なる領域に設けられると共に、正極活物質層の巻回中心側端部および巻回外周側端部ならびに負極活物質層の巻回中心側端部が長軸で二分割される一方の側に位置し、かつ、正極活物質層の巻回中心側端部を有する平坦部分と正極活物質層の巻回外周側端部を有する平坦部分とが短軸方向において重ならないように位置するようにしたので、正極活物質層の巻回中心側端部および巻回外周側端部の近傍領域における圧力上昇が抑制される。
図1および図2は本発明における第1の実施の形態としての二次電池1の断面構造を表すものである。二次電池1は、いわゆる角型といわれるものであり、ほぼ中空直方体形状をなす電池缶11の内部に、偏平形状の巻回体20を収容したものである。巻回体20は、後述するように複数の層からなる積層膜であり、巻回軸CLを中心として渦巻き状に巻回されたものである。図1は巻回軸CLと直交する断面の構成を表しており、図2は巻回軸CLを含んで長軸方向に沿って切断した断面の構成を表している。すなわち、図2は、図1に示したII−II線に沿った矢視方向における断面図である。

続いて、本発明における第2の実施の形態としての二次電池2について図5を参照して説明する。図5は、二次電池2における断面構造を表すものであり、上記第1の実施の形態における二次電池1を表した図1に対応するものである。この二次電池2は、巻回体20の替わりに巻回体30を備えるようにしたことを除いては、二次電池1と同様の構成である。よって、以下では、二次電池1と実質的に同一の構成要素には同一の符号を付して説明することとし、その説明を適宜省略する。

条件式(3)において、0以上とすることで、すなわち、平坦部分21Sと平坦部分21Eとが短軸Jの方向において重ならないようにすることで、負極22の膨張を適度に吸収する空間を確保することができ、上記したように局所的な圧力上昇を回避し易くなる。一方、L/Dを0.2以下とすることで、比較的高い容量を確保することができる。
続いて、本発明における第3の実施の形態としての二次電池3について図6を参照して説明する。図6は、二次電池3における断面構造を表すものである。この二次電池3は、巻回体20の替わりに巻回体40を備えるようにしたことを除いては、第1の実施の形態における二次電池1と同様の構成である。

上記第1の実施の形態で説明した二次電池1を作製した。まず、炭酸リチウム(Li2 CO3 )と炭酸コバルト(CoCO3 )とを、Li2 CO3 :CoCO3 =0.5:1(モル比)の割合で混合し、空気中において900℃で5時間焼成して、正極活物質としてのリチウム・コバルト複合酸化物(LiCoO2 )を得た。次いで、このリチウム・コバルト複合酸化物91質量部と、導電剤であるグラファイト6質量部と、結着剤であるポリフッ化ビニリデン3質量部とを混合して正極合剤を調整した。続いて、この正極合剤を溶剤であるN−メチル−2−ピロリドンに分散させて正極合剤スラリーとし、厚み20μmのアルミニウム箔よりなる正極集電体21Aの両面に均一に塗布して乾燥させ、ロールプレス機で圧縮成型して正極活物質層21Bを形成することで、全体の厚みが225μmの正極21を作製した。続いて、正極集電体21Aの一端にアルミニウム製の正極リード24を取り付けた。正極リード24としては、厚みが100μmであり、正極集電体21Aの延在方向の幅が2.5mmであるものを用いた。
次に、上記第2の実施の形態で説明した二次電池2を作製した。すなわち、巻回体20の替わりに巻回体30を作製して電池缶11に収容するようにした点を除き、実施例1−1〜1−5と同様の方法により二次電池2を作製した。
次に、上記第3の実施の形態で説明した二次電池3を作製した。すなわち、巻回体20の替わりに巻回体40を作製して電池缶11に収容するようにした点を除き、実施例1−1〜1−5と同様の方法により二次電池3を作製した。
Claims (4)
- 帯状の正極集電体上に正極活物質層を有する正極と、帯状の負極集電体上に負極活物質層を有する負極とがセパレータを介して積層されると共に偏平状に巻回するように構成された巻回体と、
前記巻回体の中心部分において前記正極集電体と接合された正極リードと
を備え、
前記負極活物質層は、スズ(Sn)およびケイ素(Si)のうちの少なくとも1種を含むものであり、
前記正極活物質層の巻回中心側端部は、前記巻回体の短軸方向において前記正極リードと重ならない領域に設けられており、
前記負極活物質層の巻回中心側端部は、前記巻回体の短軸方向において前記正極リードと重なる領域に設けられており、
前記正極活物質層の巻回中心側端部および巻回外周側端部ならびに前記負極活物質層の巻回中心側端部が長軸で二分割される一方の側に位置し、かつ、前記正極活物質層の巻回中心側端部を有する平坦部分と前記正極活物質層の巻回外周側端部を有する平坦部分とが短軸方向において重ならないように位置する
二次電池。 - 前記負極活物質層は、スズ(Sn)と、コバルト(Co)と、炭素(C)とを含み、炭素の含有量が9.9質量%以上29.7質量%以下であり、かつスズとコバルトとの合計に対するコバルトの割合が30質量%以上70質量%以下であるCoSnC含有材料を含む請求項1記載の二次電池。
- さらに、以下の条件式(4)を満足するように構成されている請求項1または請求項2記載の二次電池。

但し、
L:正極活物質層における巻回中心側端部と、正極活物質層における巻回外周側端部との長軸方向の距離
D:正極集電体の最内周における長軸方向の寸法 - 前記巻回体が直方体形状の電池缶に収納されている請求項3記載の二次電池。
