Abstract
【解決手段】ヒータ(加熱体)の長手方向端部の検知温度tと閾値Thとを比較し、その比較結果に応じてプリントスピードを制御する。この閾値Thは、所定の条件に従って切り替える。例えば、プリントスピードを低下させる切替を行ったスループットダウン実行回数が所定値に達したことを前記所定の条件とする。あるいは、小サイズ通紙割合が所定値より大きいか否かを前記所定の条件とする。

Description
図4に本実施の形態の画像形成装置における定着装置の概略構成を示し、図5にその一部を拡大して示す。
定着装置の概略は前述した第1の実施の形態と同様であるので、説明を省略する。図7に、本実施の形態における画像形成装置の制御手順の概略を表すフローチャートを示す。また、表2に小サイズ記録材の通紙割合と端部に設けているサーミスタがスループットダウンさせるための閾値温度Thの関係を示す。

Claims (4)
- 加熱体と、
この加熱体の熱を伝導する熱伝導回転体と、
この熱伝導回転体に圧接する加圧回転体とを備え、
前記熱伝導回転体と前記加圧回転体との間に未定着画像が形成された記録材を挟持して加熱および加圧することによってこの未定着画像を定着させる画像形成装置であって、
前記記録材を挟持して定着を行うときには前記加熱体を所定の定着温調温度に維持する温度調整手段と、
前記加熱体の温度を検知する温度検知手段と、
この温度検知手段により検知された温度と閾値とを比較し、その比較結果に応じてプリントスピードを制御するプリントスピード制御手段と、
所定の条件に従って前記閾値を切り替える閾値切替手段と
を備えたことを特徴とする画像形成装置。 - 前記プリントスピード制御手段によるプリントスピードを低下させる切替を行ったスループットダウン実行回数を累積計数する計数手段を備え、前記閾値切替手段は、前記計数手段によるスループットダウン実行回数が所定値に達したことを前記所定の条件とすることを特徴とする請求項1記載の画像形成装置。
- 記録材のサイズ情報を検知する手段と、
記録材のプリント枚数を計測する計数手段と、
所定サイズ以下の通紙サイズのプリント枚数の全サイズのプリント枚数に対する小サイズ通紙割合を計測する小サイズ通紙割合計測手段とを備え、
前記閾値切替手段は、前記小サイズ通紙割合が所定値より大きいか否かを前記所定の条件とすることを特徴とする請求項1記載の画像形成装置。 - 前記熱伝導回転体は定着フィルムである請求項1、2または3載の画像形成装置。
