Abstract
Description
本発明は、ハロゲン化マグネシウム組成物、それから作られた触媒、ハロゲン化マグネシウムの溶解度を増大させる方法、ハロゲン化マグネシウム組成物及び触媒を作る方法、並びに重合方法に関する。
MgCl2の様々な電子供与媒体の溶液は、産業においてオレフィン重合用触媒の製造のための用途が見出されている。多くの場合、これらの溶液は、オレフィン重合の触媒作用に広く受け入れられることが分かっているMg−Ti触媒先駆物質を形成させるために、エーテル、ケトン及びエステルを使用する。既知の先駆物質は、塩化マグネシウム及び塩化チタンを溶媒に溶解させ、次いで過剰の溶媒を蒸発又は蒸留することによって得られてきた。テトラヒドロフラン(THF)は、蒸発及び溶媒回収を促進させるそのMgCl2とTiClxの両方との配位特性及びその比較的低い沸点のために、特に有用な溶媒であることが分かっている。得られた乾燥触媒先駆物質は、オレフィン重合において活性な組成物を生成させるために、助触媒、典型的にはアルキルアルミニウム化合物で処理される。

(式中、X'はCl又はOR'''であり、R”及びR'''は、それぞれC1〜C14飽和炭化水素基であり、dは0〜1.5であり、eは0又は1であり、そしてc+d+e=3である。)
に従う。代表的なこのような活性剤としては、Al(CH3)3、Al(C2H5)3、Al(C2H5)2Cl、Al(i−C4H9)3、Al(C2H5)1.5Cl1.5、Al(i−C4H9)2H、Al(C6H13)3、Al(C8H17)3、Al(C2H5)2H、Al(C2H5)2(OC2H5)が挙げられる。いくつかの具体例では、1種以上の活性剤は、1モルの遷移金属化合物当たり約1〜約400モルの活性剤を範囲とする活性剤対遷移金属化合物比で存在する。いくつかの具体例では、活性剤対遷移金属化合物比は、1モルの遷移金属化合物当たり約4、約10、約15又は約60モルの活性剤である。
図1は、本発明の3つの具体例についてのMgCl2溶液のTHFへの溶解度の挙動をアルコール含有量及び溶液温度の関数として例示したものである。
本発明の具体例は、電子供与溶媒を準備し、ハロゲン化マグネシウムと該溶媒とを接触させ、そして電子供与体化合物を与えてハロゲン化マグネシウム組成物を形成させることを含むハロゲン化マグネシウムの溶解度を増大させるための方法であって、該組成物が溶媒の沸点まで温度の関数として低下しない該溶媒への溶解度を特徴とするものを提供する。温度の上昇と共に低下しない溶解度を有する触媒成分を提供する。このような触媒成分を取り込んだ触媒先駆物質を提供する本発明の具体例を開示する。また、このような化合物を作る方法並びに重合用触媒及びこのような触媒を使用した重合方法も開示する。
MgXx(ED)ySz
(式中、xは一般に2であり、これはマグネシウムの酸化状態を満足し、yは4未満であり、そしてx+y+zは6以下である。)
に従う。いくつかの具体例では、yは、約0.5、0.75、1、1.5、1.75、1.9又はそれ以下である。いくつかの他の具体例では、yは、約0.1、0.25、0.3又は0.4である。このような種は、一般に、溶媒の沸点まで温度と共に増大する溶媒への溶解度を有する。溶媒がTHFである場合には、該溶液のハロゲン化マグネシウム濃度は、電子供与体化合物(具体的には、該電子供与体化合物はアルコールである)を有しない同等の溶液よりも5倍まで高くてよい。

を有する。y+zが4未満であるこれらの具体例では、触媒成分は溶媒が不十分であるとみなされ得る。また、これらの組成物は、非化学量論的組成物とも呼ばれ得る。これらの組成物は、加熱し、減圧を適用し、又はその両方を行うことによって完全に配位されたMgCl2(ROH)2(THF)2又は他のMgXx(ED)ySz組成物から固体の形で得られ得る。

(式中、ROHは、1〜約25個の炭素原子を有する一官能性の線状又は分岐アルコールを含み、RはR'又はCOR'であり、ここで、それぞれのR’は、それぞれ、1〜約14個の炭素原子を有する脂肪族炭化水素基又は1〜約14個の炭素原子を有する芳香族炭化水素基であり、Xは、それぞれ、Cl、Br又はIであり、Sは、脂肪族及び芳香族カルボン酸のアルキルエステル、脂肪族エーテル、環状エーテル及び脂肪族ケトンよりなる群から選択され、mは0.5〜56の範囲であり、nは0、1又は2であり、pは4〜116の範囲であり、qは2〜85の範囲であり、そしてrは0.1〜1.9の範囲である。)の組成式を含む。
1バッチの未乾燥固形物を70℃での穏やかな窒素パージ下で加熱した。乾燥した組成物の物質及び配位子分析は、30.1%THF、30.8%EtOHの全組成物を与えた。該試料をさらに乾燥させて、20.5%THF、16.0%EtOHを有する組成物を生じさせた。TGAは、該化合物の重量の損失に相当する分子量を示した。
Claims (14)
- (a)ハロゲン化マグネシウムと、(b)電子供与体として好適な溶媒と、(c)電子供与体化合物とを含む又はこれらから作られたハロゲン化マグネシウム組成物において、該ハロゲン化マグネシウムが、該溶媒の沸点まで温度の関数として低下しない該溶媒への溶解度を特徴とし、しかも該ハロゲン化マグネシウムの該溶媒への溶解度が0.7モル/リットル以上である、ハロゲン化マグネシウム組成物。
- (i)ハロゲン化マグネシウムが塩化マグネシウム、臭化マグネシウム、沃化マグネシウム又はそれらの組み合わせであり、(ii)電子供与体化合物が1〜25個の炭素原子を有する線状又は分岐アルコールを含み、(iii)溶媒が脂肪族及び芳香族カルボン酸のアルキルエステル、脂肪族エーテル、環状エーテル及び脂肪族ケトンよりなる群から選択され、(iv)該アルコール対該ハロゲン化マグネシウムのモル比が0.1〜1.0未満の範囲にあり、(v)該ハロゲン化マグネシウムの該溶媒への溶解度が1リットルの溶媒当たり0.8〜2.5モルのハロゲン化マグネシウムである、請求項1に記載の組成物。
- 前記組成物が次式:

(式中、ROHはアルコールであり、R"は脂肪族及び芳香族カルボン酸のアルキルエステル、脂肪族エーテル、環状エーテル及び脂肪族ケトンよりなる群から選択され、rは0以上1.9未満であり、qは0以上4未満である。)
の組成式を含む、請求項1に記載の組成物。 - 請求項1に記載の組成物と、チタン、ジルコニウム、ハフニウム、バナジウム、ニオブ、タンタル及びそれらの2種以上の組み合わせよりなる群から選択される遷移金属を含む第2成分との反応生成物又は混合物を含む組成物。
- 前記組成物が次式:
[Mg(ROH)r]mTi(OR')nXp[W]q
(式中、ROHは、1〜25個の炭素原子を有する線状又は分岐アルコールを含み、R'はR'''又はCOR'''であり、ここで、それぞれのR'''は、それぞれ1〜14個の炭素原子を有する脂肪族炭化水素基又は1〜14個の炭素原子を有する芳香族炭化水素基であり、Xは、それぞれCl、Br又はIであり、Wは脂肪族及び芳香族カルボン酸のアルキルエステル、脂肪族エーテル、環状エーテル及び脂肪族ケトンよりなる群から選択され、mは0.5〜56の範囲にあり、nは0、1又は2であり、pは4〜116の範囲にあり、qは2〜85の範囲にあり、rは0.1〜1.9の範囲にある。)
の組成式を含む、請求項4に記載の組成物。 - 請求項4に記載の組成物と助触媒との反応生成物。
- ハロゲン化マグネシウム組成物が
MgCl2(ROH)2THF2
を含む、請求項1に記載の組成物。 - 電子供与体化合物が1〜25個の炭素原子を有する置換又は非置換の脂肪族又は芳香族アルコールを含む、請求項1に記載の組成物。
- アルコールがメタノール、エタノール、プロパノール、イソプロパノール、ブタノール、2−エチルヘキサノール、1−ドデカノール、シクロヘキサノール及びジ−t−ブチルフェノールよりなる群から選択される、請求項2に記載の組成物。
- 溶媒が脂肪族及び芳香族カルボン酸のアルキルエステル、エーテル及び脂肪族ケトンよりなる群から選択される、請求項1に記載の組成物。
- 前記アルキルエステルが酢酸メチル、酢酸エチル、プロピオン酸エチル、プロピオン酸メチル、安息香酸エチル及びそれらの2種以上の組み合わせよりなる群から選択される、請求項10に記載の組成物。
- エーテルがジエチルエーテル、ジイソプロピルエーテル、ジ−n−ブチルエーテル、エチルイソプロピルエーテル、メチルブチルエーテル、メチルアリルエーテル、エチルビニルエーテル、テトラヒドロフラン、2−メチルテトラヒドロフラン及びそれらの2種以上の組み合わせよりなる群から選択される、請求項10に記載の組成物。
- ケトンがアセトン、メチルエチルケトン、シクロヘキサノン、シクロペンチルメチルケトン、3−ブロム−4−ヘプタノン、2−クロルシクロペンタノン、アリルメチルケトン及びそれらの2種以上の組み合わせよりなる群から選択される、請求項10に記載の組成物。
- 前記反応生成物又は混合物が、脂肪族又は芳香族カルボン酸のアルキルエステル、脂肪族エーテル、環状エーテル及び脂肪族ケトンよりなる群から選択される第2溶媒をさらに含む、請求項4に記載の組成物。
