Claims (37)

  1. 無線通信システムにおいて複数の伝送チャンネルによりデータを送信する方法において、
    通信システムの動作状態を決定し、
    決定された動作状態に基づいて複数の可能なパワー割当て送信方式の中から選択された特定のパワー割当て送信方式を識別し、
    選択された送信方式に基づいて送信されるべき1以上のデータ流を決定し、
    選択された送信方式に基づいて1以上のデータ流を処理するステップを含んでおり、動作状態は信号対雑音情報(SNR)によって定量化される方法。
  2. 特定の送信方式は、複数の可能な送信方式のそれぞれの性能を評価することにより選択される請求項1記載の方法。
  3. 選択された送信方式は、動作中の信号対雑音および妨害比(SNR)に基づいて選択される請求項1記載の方法。
  4. 1以上のデータ流は、チャンネル状態情報に基づいてさらに処理される請求項1記載の方法。
  5. 複数の送信方式は、部分的チャンネル状態情報(CSI)送信方式を含んでいる請求項4記載の方法。
  6. 部分的CSI送信方式に対するチャンネル状態情報は、信号対雑音および妨害比を含んでいる請求項5記載の方法。
  7. 複数の送信方式は、ビーム形成送信方式を含んでいる請求項4記載の方法。
  8. 単一の伝送チャンネルが選択されてビーム形成送信方式に使用され、ビーム形成は単一の選択された伝送チャンネルでデータを送信するために使用される請求項7記載の方法。
  9. ビーム形成送信方式に対するチャンネル状態情報は、信号対雑音および妨害比(SNR)と、単一の選択された伝送チャンネルに対する特異ベクトルとを含んでいる請求項7記載の方法。
  10. 特異ベクトルの各要素は、ディメンション当り5以下のビットに量子化される請求項9記載の方法。
  11. 複数の送信方式は、ビーム操縦送信方式を含んでいる請求項4記載の方法。
  12. ビーム操縦送信方式に対するチャンネル状態情報は、信号対雑音および妨害比(SNR)と、データ送信に使用された複数の送信アンテナに対する位相値のベクトルとを含んでいる請求項11記載の方法。
  13. 位相値のベクトルは、主要固有モードに対する特異ベクトルに基づいている請求項12記載の方法。
  14. 各データ流に対するレートを、そのデータ流に対して達成可能な信号対雑音および妨害比(SNR)に基づいて選択するステップをさらに含んでいる請求項1記載の方法。
  15. 無線通信システムは多重入力多重出力(MIMO)通信システムであり、複数の伝送チャンネルはMIMO通信システムの複数の空間サブチャンネルに対応している請求項1記載の方法。
  16. 無線通信システムは広帯域多重入力多重出力(MIMO)通信システムであり、複数の伝送チャンネルは複数の周波数帯域の複数の空間サブチャンネルに対応している請求項1記載の方法。
  17. 全ての周波数帯域に対して使用されるために1つの送信方式が選択され、この選択された送信方式に基づいて1以上のデータ流が各周波数帯域で送信されて処理される請求項16記載の方法。
  18. 各周波数帯域に対して使用されるために1つの送信方式が選択され、その周波数帯域に対して選択された送信方式に基づいて1以上のデータ流が各周波数帯域で送信されて処理される請求項16記載の方法。
  19. 複数の周波数帯域のそれぞれに対して使用されるためにビーム形成送信方式が選択される請求項16記載の方法。
  20. 全送信パワーは、複数の周波数帯域で送信される全てのデータ流に対して共通の符号化および変調方式が使用されるように割当てられる請求項19記載の方法。
  21. 複数の周波数帯域のそれぞれに対して使用されるために部分的CSI送信方式が選択される請求項16記載の方法。
  22. 全送信パワーは、各周波数帯域で送信される全てのデータ流に対して共通の符号化および変調方式が使用されるように割当てられる請求項21記載の方法。
  23. 全送信パワーは、各空間サブチャンネルで送信される全てのデータ流に対して共通の符号化および変調方式が使用されるように割当てられる請求項21記載の方法。
  24. 無線通信システムは直交周波数分割多重化(OFDM)通信システムであり、複数の伝送チャンネルは複数の周波数サブチャンネルに対応している請求項1記載の方法。
  25. 多重入力多重出力(MIMO)通信システムにおいて複数の空間サブチャンネルでデータを送信する方法において、
    MIMOシステムの動作信号対雑音および妨害比(SNR)を決定し、
    動作SNRに基づいて複数の可能なパワー割当て送信方式の中から選択された特定のパワー割当て送信方式を識別し、複数の送信方式はそれぞれ動作SNRの各範囲に対して使用を指定されており、
    選択された送信方式に基づいて送信されるべき1以上のデータ流を決定し、
    選択された送信方式に基づいて1以上のデータ流を処理するステップを含んでおり、
    複数の送信方式は部分的CSI送信方式およびビーム形成送信方式を含んでおり、動作SNRがしきい値SNRより上である場合には部分的CSI送信方式が選択されて使用され、動作SNRがしきい値SNRより下である場合にはビーム形成送信方式が選択されて使用される方法。
  26. 通信システムの動作状態を決定する手段と、
    決定された動作状態に基づいて複数の可能なパワー割当て送信方式の中から選択された特定のパワー割当て送信方式を識別する手段と、
    選択された送信方式に基づいて送信されるべき1以上のデータ流を決定する手段と、
    選択された送信方式に基づいて1以上のデータ流を処理する手段とを具備しており、
    特定の送信方式は通信システムの動作中の信号対雑音および妨害比(SNR)に基づいて選択され、複数の送信方式はそれぞれ動作SNRの各範囲に対して使用を指定されている無線通信システムにおける装置。
  27. 無線通信システムは多重入力多重出力(MIMO)通信システムであり、複数の伝送チャンネルはMIMO通信システムの複数の空間サブチャンネルに対応している請求項26記載の装置。
  28. 各データ流に対するレートを、そのデータ流によって達成可能な信号対雑音および妨害比(SNR)に基づいて選択する手段をさらに備えている請求項26記載の装置。
  29. 複数の送信方式は部分的CSI送信方式およびビーム形成送信方式を含んでおり、動作SNRがしきい値SNRより上である場合には部分的CSI送信方式が選択されて使用され、動作SNRがしきい値SNRより下である場合にはビーム形成送信方式が選択されて使用される請求項26記載の装置。
  30. 通信システムの動作状態の表示を受信し、
    その動作状態に基づいて複数の可能なパワー割当て送信方式の中から選択された特定のパワー割当て送信方式を識別し、
    選択された送信方式に基づいて送信されるべき1以上のデータ流を決定し、
    各データ流のレートをそのデータ流に割当てられた送信パワーの量に部分的に基づいて選択し、
    選択された送信方式に基づいて1以上のデータ流の処理を指令することによって、複数の伝送チャンネルによるデータ送信を指令するように動作する制御装置と、
    各データ流をその選択されたレートに基づいて処理して各シンボル流を提供するように動作する送信(TX)データプロセッサと、
    1以上のシンボル流を処理して通信チャンネルによる送信に適した1以上の変調された信号を提供するように動作する1以上の送信機とを備えている無線通信システムにおける送信装置。
  31. 制御装置はさらに、部分的CSI送信方式に対する各データ流に対してピーク送信パワーを使用し、ビーム形成送信方式に対する単一のデータ流に対して全ての送信パワーを割当てるように動作する請求項30記載の送信装置。
  32. さらに、ビーム形成送信方式に対する特異ベクトルに基づいて単一のデータ流に対するシンボル流を予備調整するように動作するTX MIMOプロセッサを備えている請求項30記載の送信装置。
  33. 請求項30記載の送信装置を備えている基地局。
  34. 複数の送信方式は部分的CSI送信方式およびビーム形成送信方式を含んでおり、制御装置は、通信システムの動作信号対雑音および妨害比(SNR)がしきい値SNRより上である場合には部分的CSI送信方式を選択するように動作し、動作SNRがしきい値SNRより下である場合にはビーム形成送信方式を選択するように動作する請求項42記載の送信装置。
  35. 特定の受信機処理方式にしたがって受信された複数のシンボル流を受信して処理し、少なくとも1つの再生されたシンボル流を提供すると共に、再生されたシンボル流のそれぞれに対するチャンネル状態情報(CSI)を導出するように動作する受信(RX)MIMOプロセッサと、
    少なくとも1つの再生されたシンボル流を少なくとも1つの復調および復号方式にしたがって処理して復号されたデータを提供するように動作するRXデータプロセッサと、
    CSIを処理して送信されたものを送信装置に返送するように動作するTXデータプロセッサとを備えており、
    特定のパワー割当て送信方式がCSIに基づいて複数の可能なパワー割当て送信方式の中から選択され、選択されたパワー割当て送信方式に基づいて1以上のデータ流が受信装置に送信され、選択されたパワー割当て送信方式に基づいて利用可能な全送信パワーが1以上のデータ流に割当てられ、複数の送信方式は部分的CSI送信方式およびビーム形成送信方式を含んでおり、動作信号対雑音および妨害比(SNR)がしきい値SNRより上である場合には部分的CSI送信方式が選択され、動作SNRがしきい値SNRより下である場合にはビーム形成送信方式が選択される無線通信システムにおける受信装置。
  36. ビーム形成送信方式に対して、RX MIMOプロセッサはさらに、特異ベクトルにより複数の受信されたシンボル流を予備調整して単一の再生されたシンボル流を提供するように動作する請求項35記載の受信装置。
  37. 部分的CSI送信方式に対して、RX MIMOプロセッサはさらに、複数の受信されたシンボル流を、連続した消去を伴なう最小2乗平均エラー(MMSE−SC)受信機処理技術に基づいて処理し、複数の再生されたシンボル流を提供するように動作する請求項35記載の受信装置。
