Abstract

933,427. Bolt fastenings. HASSETT & HARPER Ltd., and J. BLENNERHASSETT. June 4, 1962 [June 16, 1961], No. 21769/61. Class 44. A door fastener comprises a bolt secured to a carriage 12 which is reciprocable in a casing 13, the carriage being spring urged along the casing and haying an aperture through which a catch member 23 may project for engagement with the bolt, a screw and nut adjuster for predetermining the initial and spring driven position of the carriage in the casing, and a handle secured to the adjuster for reciprocating the carriage. In the construction shown, the bolt comprises a sleeve 10 mounted on a spindle 11 transversely of the carriage 12 which is slidable in the casing 13 on a pair of parallel guide pins 14, springs 16 being disposed between the carriage 12 and the casing. The screw and nut adjusting device comprises a threaded stud 17 which extends from one end of the carriage and then through an aperture in the casing, its free end being threaded and receiving a nut 22. The handle comprises a rubber knob 19 fixed to a bracket 20, the bracket being carried by the stud 17 and secured in position between a sleeve 21 on the stud and the nut 22. The initial position of the bolt is varied by moving the sleeve 21 and nut 22. Specification 849,567 is referred to.
