Abstract
1404036 Vehicle door lock actuating device N BALSON 11 Sept 1972 [8 Oct 1971] 42160/ 72 Heading E2A A vehicle door lock actuating device comprises plunger member 10 which is connectible as through a threaded rod 11 with a vehicle door locking mechanism and when, when so connected, projects outwardly from an aperture in a sill 14 of the vehicle door for reciprocating lock actuating movement. A sleeve member 17 surrounds the plunger member 10 so that, in use the plunger member cannot be moved sufficiently or at all towards the sill 14 by finger actuation to cause locking of the locking mechanism. The sleeve member 17 and the plunger member 10 are relatively movable in both directions of the axis of the plunger member 10 and the sleeve member 17 being engagable with the plunger member 10 in one direction of movement to move the plunger member 10, in use, away from the sill 14. In the construction shown the plunger member 10 is formed with a head portion 16 for entrainment in the abovementioned one direction of movement by a flange at the lower end of the sleeve. Alternatively the plunger member may be, provided with radially extending pins which work in a slot of the sleeve member (Figs 3 not shown). A spring 19 is interposed between the sleeve member and plunger member and the sleeve member is provided with a slot 20 whereby the plunger member may be depressed by a key. The sleeve member may comprise two components connected by a screw thread (Fig 4, not shown). The slant of the plunger member and/or the internal configuration of the sleeve may be other than circular to facilitate the screwing of the plunger member to the rod 11.
