881,088. Cotters. PRICE CORPORATION, D. W. March 6, 1959 [March 7, 1958], No. 7820/59. Class 89(2). A fastening device comprises a tubular body 24 with detents 34, e.g. balls, adjacent one end and movable between extended and retracted positions by a rod 42. A shoulder 30 limits penetration of the body into parts fastened by the device. The other end of the body houses a cam 48 on the rod and a spring 52 urging the rod to extend the balls. A sleeve 60 is slidable on said other end of the body and has opposed cam surfaces 72, 74 which act, when the sleeve is moved axially in either direction, via balls 56 on cam 48 to move the rod and allow the detents to retract.
