1317725 Door fastenings WEST ALLOY DIECASTINGS Ltd 9 June 1970 [9 June 1969] 29172/69 Heading E2B Door fastening apparatus comprises a manipulating assembly for attachment to a door and a catch fitting for attachment to a fixed part of an adjacent structure, the manipulating assembly including a plunger A slidable in a body 1 and having a hand-operable portion 8 arranged to project from a part of the body 1 which will be at one face of the door and having a pin portion 9 for projecting from the other face of the door, the plunger being urged by a spring 10 to a retracted position in which the pin portion will not thus project and the pin portion being formed for snap engagement with catch means 19 of the catch fitting. Such engagement will occur for door retention when the pin portion has been projected by slidable manipulation of the plunger in opposition to the spring thrust. The plunger being turnable relative to the body to release the pin portion from the catch means. As shown, the body 1 has a sleeve portion 2 and bosses 4 extending from a flange 3 each boss having a screw threaded bore for receiving screws 5 by which the body is secured to the door, the screws passing through a bumper member 6 which has a bore 16 to enable the pin portion to pass through it to engage the catch means 19. The catch means are disposed in a recess, of a bumper member 14 of the catch fitting, the bumper member having holes for receiving screws 15 which attach the bumper member to the structure part. The bumper member 14 also has a bore through it to enable the pin portion to pass through to engage the catch means. The pin portion has diametrically opposite notches 20 for receiving the catch means 19 which are in the form of jaws and rotation through 90‹ is sufficient to disengage the jaws from the notches. Axial movement of the plunger relative to the body 1 is limited by a stop pin 12 fitted in a radial hole in the shank portion, the pin being movable along a slot 13 in the sleeve portion; the edge of the slot 13 along which the pin travels during plunger retraction has an obliquely inclined end portion 21 serving as a cam for cooperation with the pin to turn the pin back to the position in which it will engage with the jaws 19 on the next occasion the plunger is pushed inwardly.
