Abstract

1,028,366. Latch fastenings. AHRENDLIBRA N.V. Feb. 19, 1963 [Feb. 22, 1962], No. 6662/63. Heading E2A. A latch assembly comprises a casing 7, a rotatable latch bolt 6 releasable from a keeper by handles 19 on each side of the casing, a shaft 8, rotatable about its longitudinal axis, secured to the bolt and equipped with a spring 11 tending to keep the bolt in the latching position, the shaft having a follower 12 projecting into a recess of the casing which casing surrounds the shaft with the follower being adapted to be moved to the releasing position by an actuating member from outside the casing through the recess in the casing, in which the actuating member is spring biased and slidably arranged on a rod 18 connecting the handles which are rotatably mounted in door roses 20, 21 and has at one end a cam 25 co-operating with the follower and at the other end one or more cams 26 co-operating with one or more fixed cams 27. In the construction shown a plurality of cams 26 and 27 are provided and the cams 27 are part of one of the roses 20. The actuating member is biased by a spring 23 which is trapped between the member and the other rose 21. Rotation of the actuating member and hence of the handles is limited by means of abutments which engage abutments of a sleeve 16 which is positioned between the two roses and through which the rod 18 passes. The casing 7 has lips 15 which engage slots in the sleeve 16 to hold the sleeve and casing in engagement.
