Abstract
1,235,114. Releasable fastenings. BROOKHIRST IGRANIC Ltd. 18 July, 1968 [7 Aug., 1967], No. 36140/67. Heading E2A. [Also in Division H1] A latching push-button assembly comprises a base 10, a push-button 11 and a sleeve 12, the sleeve being partially rotatable relative to the push-button, when the push-button is depressed, to latch it in the depressed position. As shown, in a self-latching push-button assembly, the shaft 21 is secured against rotation and has, riveted to it, a latch plate 24 with the two slots sildable over projections 34, 35 on the inside of sleeve 12. Sleeve 12 normally tends to be rotated by a torsion spring 32 but is prevented from rotating by the slots in plate 24 engaging projections 34, 35. When pushbutton 11 is depressed, projections 34, 35 are disengaged from the slots and sleeve 12 is rotated by spring 32 until arrested by a stop. The absence of alignment between the slots in plate 24 and projections 34, 35 prevents retraction of the push-button. Sleeve 12 must be rotated by hand until the slots and projections are again in alignment before the push-button can retract, under the action of spring 26.
