1411092 Releasable fastenings E A MORGAN 25 Jan 1973 [27 Jan 1972] 3796/72 Heading E2A A latch handle assembly has a handle 17, Fig. I with a boss 16 having a socket 15 which receives a sleeve 13 therein, the socket 15, Fig. 2, and the sleeve 13 having diametrically-opposed flats which prevent relative rotation therebetween, and a plate 10 which rotatably receives the sleeve 13 and is provided with apertures (not shown) to receive screws for attaching to a door (not shown). The sleeve 13 may be provided with an annular shoulder 19, Fig. 1, and a projection 18 of the handle 17 is deformed, at 20 so as to retain the sleeve within the socket 15. The sleeve is also provided with a flange 14 which is received in a depression 12 formed in the plate 10. A lug 25 of the plate 10 is received in an arcuate slot 26, Figs. 1 and 3, in the flange 14. A spring 22, located in an annular space 21 in the boss 16, has one end thereof engaging an abutment 23 of the handle and has another end in a slot of the plate 10 so that the handle is urged in one direction of rotation relative to the plate 10. In modification a lug 25a, Fig. 4, is formed on the sleeve 13 and is received by an arcuate slot 26a formed in the plate 10. A slot 27 is formed in the plate 10 to receive one end of the spring 22 therein. In another embodiment a plate 110, Fig. 5, has a wall 128 with an opening 111 therein, a flange 129, which when the plate is mounted on a door defines a chamber between the door and the plate, and has a bush 130. The latter has a spigot 131 which is received by the opening 111 and has a shoulder 132 which abuts the wall 128. A sleeve 113 has a flange 114 and is located in the bush 130. A spring 122 is positioned in a groove 125 formed in the bush 130.
