Abstract

1,171,752. Latch fastenings. C. WARDALE. 24 Nov., 1967 [25 Nov., 1966], No. 52774/66. Heading E2A. A device for use in preventing the forcing of a latch bolt comprises a strip of metal having securing flanges 11 extending from a main part thereof the flanges being bent at a small angle to the said main part and provided with apertures to receive securing screws for attaching the same between the edge of a door and its jamb in operative position relative to the keeper for the latch bolt. As shown the flanges are intended to be disposed one on each side of the keeper. The device shown is provided with a narrow flange 13 located between the two securing flanges and extending normal or substantially so to said flanges; this narrow flange is located between an edge of the keeper and an edge of the recess in the door frame which receives the keeper. In each end portion of the main part of the strip, notches 14 are formed which are intended to trap a bolt forcing implement inserted between the door and its jamb underneath or above the strip; a forcing implement inserted at the position of the strip is prevented by the inclination of the main part of the strip to the door, from reaching the bolt since the edge of the main part rests on the edge of the door.
