Abstract

1468914 Window &c fastenings S W BENGTSSON 3 July 1974 [9 July 1973] 29403/74 Heading E2A An espagnolette for shutters, windows French doors &c having a portion 16 swing- ably mounted in relation to a casement 17 comprises at least one rod 10 reciprocable along one of the vertical sides of the swing- able portion 16 and means for operating at least one bolt 15, pivotable about a horizontal axis 22 and which in a locked position extends into an aperture 20 defined by a keeper plate 21. The or each bolt is formed as a hook 24 so that in the locking position it engages the keeper plate to prevent separation of the swingable portion from the casement in the plane of the latter and the bolt is wedge-shaped at least at its vertical side face 26 remote from the casement so that when the bolt is brought into locking position it co-operates with the adjacent edge of the opening 20 to force the swingable portion towards a jamb 18 on the casement.
