Abstract

1,067,938. Bolt fastenings. I. R. BARNES. Nov. 10, 1965 [Nov. 17, 1964], No. 46694/64. Heading E2A. A slidable window assembly comprises a fastening device having a spring loaded bolt B' which slides in a barrel b secured to one flange of a channel shaped member of a sash and extends through the flange to engage one of a plurality of holes in another member of the assembly to fasten the sash in any of a number of predetermined positions. In the construction shown the barrel is secured to a plate b' secured to the outer side of the flange of the channel shaped sash member, the plate being formed with a projecting portion b3 extending outwardly from the plate, for engagement by a shoulder on the bolt to retain the bolt in the withdrawn position. The bolt is loaded by a spring b2 so that when the shoulder is released from the projecting portion by rotating the bolt it is extended to the fastening position. The holes can either be in a channel shaped member of a second sash or in a frame member of the window assembly in which the sash is slidable.
