Abstract

999,390. Sliding bolts. ALEXANDER (SILVERTHORNE) Ltd. July 2, 1963 [August 21, 1962], No. 32004/62. Heading E2A. In a bolt of the kind comprising a rod-like bolt proper 11 which is slidable in a barrel 10 for engagement with and disengagement from a keeper 12, the bolt proper having a lateral extension or projection 17 facilitating sliding thereof, the barrel and or the bolt proper is or are made from a synthetic resinous material which is inherently slightly deformable and resilient, the barrel comprising a C-section sleeve having integral outwardly and oppositely extending apertured flanges 13 for securing to a door or the like so that the bolt proper 11 and barrel 10 may be assembled by temporary deformation of the one or the other as the bolt proper is moved laterally into the sleeve. As shown, the barrel is provided with divergent faces 19 to facilitate assembly.
