A circlip 10 comprises a resilient split ring having lugs 13 and axial undulations to enable it to be resiliently compressed between flat annular surfaces engaging its opposite faces. The circlip may be provided with openings for engagement by a tool and/or with upturned, inturned or out-turned lugs. Also the number and direction of projection of the undulations may vary.
