856,659. Syringes. KILLICK, M. B., and ORR, J. A. May 1, 1959 [May 1, 1958], No. 13965/58.. Class 102(2). The piston 2 of a syringe is reciprocated by means of a boss 7 through which the piston rod 3 passes and which is slidably mounted on a post 9 on the end plate 4. The rod 3 has a flat surface 15 and the boss 7 an internal surface 20 at an angle to the surface 15 ; balls 19 are located in the space between the surfaces 15, 20 and are freed therein to lock the boss 7 to the rod 3 by means of a pawl 16 engaged by an actuating knob 6. The stroke of the piston is set by a fixed stop 12a and an adjustable stop. 13.
