Abstract

931,675. Winding yarn. W. REINERS. Sept. 11, 1959 [Sept. 26, 1958], No. 31085/59. Class 120 (2). A thread winding machine with means for transferring cops from a magazine to a supply position, tying means to join the thread of a supply cop to thread on a winding package and means for holding the ends of the magazine threads by suction has also means for applying a clamping action to the thread ends whilst discontinuing the suction action. When cops are placed in the magazine their thread ends F<SP>11</SP> are drawn over a curved leaf-spring member 103 secured to the end of an air duct 100 where the ends are clamped against a pivoted arm 101 that is urged by a spring 102 to close the mouth of the duct 100. Upon a magazine cop 5<SP>1</SP> passing to the supply position, the arm 101 is raised to allow the thread end F from the supply cop 5 to be released, the ends F<SP>11</SP> meanwhile being retained by the suction effect. After release of supply end F the arm 101 returns to close the duct 100. A known suction arm 6a presents the thread end from package 4 to the knot-tying device 9 for connection to the end from package 5 that has been carried to device 9 by suction arm 10.
