Abstract

727,998. Winding yarn. REINERS, W Aug. 6, 1952 [Sept. 7, 1951], No. 19783/52. Class 120(2). An automatic yarn winding machine is provided with means, e.g. a suction tube 10, 12 rockable about a shaft 11 and furnished with a cam 14 for conveying the broken end of yarn positioned between a clearer 17, 18, a tensioner 19 and the supply package 5, to a knotter 9. A spring-urged clamp covering the end of the tube 10, when the tube is in the position 10<SP>1</SP>, is opened to allow the thread end to be sucked therein, the cam 14 releasing the broken thread end from the clearer 17, 18 and from the tensioner 19. In order that the thread end 24 from a freshly supplied package 51 fed from the magazine 21, the end being correctly positioned by extending into a suction tube 23, may be knotted to the end on the take-up package 4, the tube 10, at position 32, is arranged to take up the new thread 24 and deliver it to the knotter 9. The thread end from the take-up package 4 is taken to the knotter by a suction device 6, 7, rotatable about a shaft 8, the package 4, upon failure of the yarn, being partly rotated backwardly. for the end to be found readily. After knotting, the end cutting mechanism severs the unwanted ends which are disposed of through the devices 6, 10.
