Abstract
926,887. Expanding-wheel gear. CROFTS (ENGINEERS) Ltd. Jan. 2, 1961 [Jan. 22, 1960], No. 2399/60. Class 80 (2). The discs 2, 8 of an expanding pulley are mounted on a sleeve 4 keyed to the main driving shaft 6, the sleeve driving the pulley discs through a centrifugal clutch 23 which, as shown, is of the multi-disc type operated by tapered centrifugal masses 25 as described in Specification 886,255. The pulley discs are loaded by a spring 13 compressed by an adjustable collar 12 which forms the driven member of the clutch and is screwed on to the end of the sleeve 3 of pulley disc 2 and secured in position by a key 16. The collar is additionally secured by a transverse bolt or screw 18 extending across a slit 17.
