Abstract

1,035,239. Variable speed gear. PARRISH INSTRUMENTS Ltd. Nov. 30, 1964 [Sept. 23, 1963], No. 37321/63. Addition to 992,039. Heading F2D. In a variable speed friction gear of the type described in the parent Specification wherein a pair of idler balls 10 in a cage 15 engage driving and driven cones 5, 9, one or both cones is loaded axially to produce the frictional engaging pressure by a screw 20 which acts on the cone through a bearing 3 and sleeve 22. The cones may be radially preloaded by providing a resilient element between the bearing adjacent the small end of the cone and the housing.
