A variable speed gear comprises an input (or output) shaft A mounting two axially spaced discs whose facing surfaces engage friction rollers B, F also engaging a central disc C, the rollers B being tiltable relative to their fixed carrier, and the rollers F being non-tiltable relative to their carrier E which forms the output (or input).
