[Also in Group XXIX] A centrifugal valve for use in a fluid-pressure control circuit for an automatic power transmission system, such as that desciibed in Specification 841,069, comprises a member 58 secured to extend transversely of a rotary shaft, such as a tail shaft 12, and carrying a telescopic sleeve member 86 forming a pressure chamber 88 to which liquid is supplied by a pump 56 through passages 70, 82 in the tail shaft 12 and member 58 respectively, and from which it is exhausted through orifices 90 in the sleeve 86. Upon rotation of shaft 12 the liquid pressure in chamber 88 acts in opposition to the centrifugal force on sleeve 86, the exhaust orifices 90 regulating the pressure in accordance with the speed of rotation. As shown in Fig. 1, the regulated pressure is applied to a control circuit 60 by means of which the clutches and brakes of the transmission system are operated automatically at predetermined speeds of rotation of shaft 12.
