The emptying of a clutch is effected through a valve 28 dis posed in the outlet duct and actuated in dependence upon the output speed of the clutch or speed of e motor vehicle fitted with the clutch, so that at low speed in sufficient liquid remains for the transmission of torque. The valve 28 may be stationary and actuated by a centrifugal governor or be rotatably disposed for direct actuation by centrifugal force. The valve may be mounted on the runner. The Specification describes a double clutch controlled by a single valve.
