[Also in Group XXIV] In a motor vehicle, an engine drives through a fluid coupling, torque converter or the like always transmitting a residual torque, to a positive clutch (see Group XXIV) engaged by springs and disengaged by fluid pressure, in turn connected to a change speed gear of the change mesh or selectively engaged clutch type. To select a ratio in the change speed gear, the positive clutch is disengaged.
