796,666. Motor vehicle driving gear. BIRMINGHAM SMALL ARMS CO., Ltd. Dec. 8, 1955 [March 16, 1954], No. 7563/54. Class 79(2) A motor vehicle comprises a multispeed epicyclic change - speed gearbox D, a planetary overdrive unit C located between the gearbox D and a hydraulic coupling device B connected to the output of the engine A, and a power take - off means 3. As shown, the hydraulic coupling device B is a fluid flywheel, and the gear-box D is of the Wilson type. The gear-box D and unit C are both operable by power means actuated either hydraulically or pneumatically. When a gear change necessitates operation of both the gear-box D and the unit C, the two operations are attained by a single movement of one control lever (not shown). The unit C comprises a clutch 21, an anuular gear 19 and a planet pinion 17. In addition to the above-mentioned features, the gear-box D comprises band brakes 23 and sun pinions 15.
