Abstract

771,822. Centrifugal governors. FORD MOTOR CO., Ltd. Oct. 19, 1955 [Nov. 19, 1954], No. 29818/55. Class 57. A governor for the control of the flow of fluid fuel to a prime mover comprises two shafts 10, 16 connected to a cylindrical carriage 15, a hollow cylindrical element 22 slidably mounted in the carriage 15 and biased by a spring 23 towards one end of the latter, a second cylindrical element 24 slidably mounted within the element 22 and oppositely biased to the latter by. a spring 25, and a groove 26 around the periphery of the element 22 which, in response to increasing rotative speed, moves the groove out of communication with hollow portions of the shafts 10, 16. These portions are connected to fuel conduits 19, 28 and the shaft 10 is driven by a spline 11 from the prime mover which may be a turbine. The element 24 serves to maintain dynamic balance over a wide range of speeds.
