Abstract

565,101. Speed governors. C.A.V., Ltd., and NICHOLLS, W. E. W. March 22, 1943, No. 4652. [Class 135] In a governor of the type in which fluid pressure acting on a responsive member is controlled by a loaded valve, means are provided whereby fluid pressure acts on the valve in the same direction as the force which varies with the speed of the prime mover and also in the opposite direction. In the form shown in the Figure, the engine regulator is actuated by a spring-loaded piston e subject to fluid pressure from a pump a through a pipe d provided with a restriction c and controlled by a leak-off valve f actuated by a centrifugal governor k. The valve f is pressure balanced by a plunger n subject to the pressure in the pipe d admitted through a pipe o provided with a restriction p and associated with an expansion chamber q.
