Abstract

680,875. Shaft couplings. KLOCKNERHUMBOLDT-DEUTZ AKT.-GES. Oct. 24, 1950 [Dec. 27, 1949], No. 25921/50. Class 80 (ii). A centrifugally-adjusted shaft coupling in the drive of the injection pump or ignition device of an internal-combustion engine comprises a centrifugal weight 5 which is disposed between discs 6, 7 secured to the ends of the driving and driven shafts 2, 1 and which has an elongated opening 19 receiving a cylindrical extension 14 of the disc 6. The weight has parallel-sided inclined recesses 15 slidably engaging blocks 16 pivoted on pins 18 secured to the discs 6, 7. A spring 12, housed within the weight, bears against the extension 14 through a shoe 20 so as to oppose the centrifugal movement. As shown, for driving an injection pump, the disc 7 also carries governor weights 10 co-operating with a governor sleeve 11.
